Trump within 1 of Cruz in Texas poll

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is within 1 point of Ted Cruz in Cruz's home state, according to a poll released Wednesday.

Cruz has 29 percent support in Texas, followed closely by Trump, at 28 percent, and Marco Rubio, at 25 percent, according to an Emerson College poll released Wednesday. John Kasich takes 9 percent support, with Ben Carson at 4 percent.

The poll comes on the heels of Trump's dominant performance in the Nevada caucuses Tuesday, his third straight win in the GOP race.

Texas is one of the dozen states voting on Super Tuesday next week, and the billionaire businessman has made clear that he intends to beat Cruz in his home state.

"I think it's very likely that Mr. Trump can win here in Texas," Trump spokeswoman Katrina Pierson told CNN on Wednesday morning.

I early voted for Trump on Monday. Yesterday was our last day to early vote in Tennessee.

The workers at the early voting place said turnout had been much lower this year, although there were people waiting when I got there and more people arriving when I left.

So, who knows? Our early voting site is a bit on the dinky side. 4 voting machines. That's all.

Trump is running this show. Not the GOPe’s.

Trump will pick who he wants as VP, not who the GOP’s want.

I sincerely hope so! Texans have to take a good look at Cruz and see what sleaze he is involved in.

This Texan cast an actual vote, not a poll answer, for Cruz.

“Rubio is easy to buy and sell and that’s why they’re flocking to him.”

He sounds more like the whiny Montgomery than the stalwart Patton.

On CNN last night Axelrod speculated that Trump should let Cruz win Texas uncontested so he hangs around longer in a 3 way as it may be more advantages to Trump in the long run.

As it stands now, Trump has enough support to be beat Cruz and Rubio but if either drops out there is some question about who their supporters break to; if they break the wrong way Trump could find himself in a race with the one still in. So from his perspective, he's better off having them split those supporters and win with a plurality than have one drop out and have to get an outright majority to take out the other.

For Cruz, this is an opportunity. In Trump's language, he has "leverage". Might be time to start thinking about making a deal.

Good for you.
While we may not agree on the top spot there are many down ballot candidates that need support to get to the general.

I noticed you’ve posted the exact same piece of flamebait a few dozen times in a row during the last couple of days:

But then again, why should I be surprised? It’s what trolls do.

Yes. Voted all tea-party endorsed candidates down ticket. Except for Cruz. It will be interesting to see if Trump makes it close.
