A book written by a revered Italian geologist Mario Tozzi explains what could happen if it exploded this year.
Tozzi's Pianeta Terra Ultimo Atto â which translates to Planet Earth, The Last Act â suggests the volcanic caldera may awaken in 2016 and have disastrous consequences for the rest of the globe.
The author's book â set in 2019 â covers a scenario after the super volcano erupts between now and the end of the year.
Tozzi envisages the volcano exploding and covering the United States â and potentially leading to catastrophic disaster around the world.

They’ll also say anything to sell a POS book. Will this fraud lose his cred when nothing happens? Did Algore, or have any of the other AGW frauds? Nooooo! It’s not the accuracy of the prediction; it’s the enormity of the line of BS.
AMEN!
"Yellowstone super volcano 'could erupt in 2016' and wipe out the Earth, but at least Trump wouldn't get to be President."
It’s a huge issue, but at this point in our technological developement there is zero we can do. I think in a hundred years or so we’ll be able to control those things, but not now.
The Cascadia fault will pop before that thing goes.
And the building business will be greatly stimulated.
I don’t get that from what little I read of the Daily Sunl Story. We do know that Yellowstone Super volcano has blown in the past with a certain regularity, the most recent about 638K years ago. I think it is an interesting story in how civilization would deal with a natural catastrophe such as that.
The Daily Sun story does include a line about increased temperatures, but what little knowledge I have on the subject is that the exact opposite would occur as the skies are darkened, less sunlight hits the Earth. Plant life become extinct. Mega Fauna after that. Glaciers, which have been held at bay for ten thousand years would begin advancing again. That means Canada good-bye. Northern Europe Good Bye....Parts of South America, good bye.
It is a good mental exercise to think about how civilization would carry one. Although many Earth changes have resulted in cosmic events and their chances are just as equal to happening as a supervolcano.
Obama will find a way to blame in on Bush, like everything else.
I don’t want to frighten everybody, but I was in Yellowstone last month and there were some strange things going on.
First off, it was really cold.
Then, the water got hard in some places.
There were these white flakes falling out of the sky.
Sometimes you couldn’t see the sun because these grey things got in the way.
Most everything had turned white.
The animals were behaving strangely.
The bison were pawing at the snow.
The Ducks were putting their heads under the water that wasn’t hard.
It was real spooky!
Mr. Utley...
;-)
I agree with Grumpy Cat
If it does, could someone take pictures? I’m going to be cleaning out the lint trap that day.
From that map, it looks like the location of the next eruption would be NE of Yellowstone.
Depends. If he blamed the 'eruption' on global warming, then yes, they meant 'revered'.
Bring it, Tozzi!
And I suppose the cause of this is climate change.
I see them about every 2 months.
Not sure, but Yellowstone Park may actually be some distance northeast of that last eruption circle. Because the tectonic plate which North America rides on, as most plates throughout the world, only moves about 2 inches per year. And that last eruption was around 630,000 years ago. 630,000 x 2 inches works out only to about 20 miles.
The tagline on the last one should be "Aw Hell Gnaw", but they didn't ask me...
