You're being facetious, but ruling those areas with an iron fist would be necessary. The whole idea is that there are certain behaviors that simply aren't allowed in a civilized society. So if you want to hack each other up into chum, that ain't gonna happen. Otherwise, have at it.

But make no mistake: mess with us and we will exterminate you. Mercilessly.

Then wait for the rad levels to drop ...

“We can’t bring down every bad regime and replace it with one of our own choosing.

On the other hand, we can’t really ignore an uncivilized, violent, and adversarial world, either.”

Uh, YES, yes we can.

“So... what do we do?”

Let the World deal with their own issue(s), we’ve got plenty of our own here @ home.

We did not create this govt. to become the world-police. To subject our Citizens, our $$, our time/energy to ensure ABC plays nice with XYZ. Sure didn’t build it to win-hearts-and-minds or nation build.

IMO, it’s our intervention and ‘peace-keeping’ that allows the bullsh!t in the World. We go in, slap a few hands, spend BIG $$$...and leave. That’s allowed despotism to flourish, it’s allowed Socialism to flourish (they can spend THEIR $$ & time on buying votes instead of self-protection).

War is hell. The history of Man is replete with War; I don’t see that changing anytime soon. D.C. sure doesn’t fight ‘em, or allow them to BE fought, to WIN. I contend they shouldn’t be fought to begin.

“And, no, we can’t ignore a violent world, or they’ll be showing up in Manhattan, St. Louis, and Dubuque.”

Yes, we can!

Here’s an idea: Don’t let in through the F* border!! Protect OUR border(s). Close down any/all flights to/from.

It’s the ‘never happen’ is why we have the problems we do TODAY. Nothing is fought to WIN. You don’t defeat cancer by whittling it down to 60%+ You take that MF O-U-T.

Not practical these days. How do we avoid foreign entanglements when we've been forced into two world wars, numerous regional conflicts, and various terrorist assaults in the last century?

Instead of avoiding them, we need to govern them. Let the world know that we will not be held hostage, and that gross human rights violations will be dealt with swiftly and severely.

In other words, do the job the United Nations has never managed to do.

Unfortunately for my proposal, we may have squandered the pre-eminent position we held after the fall of the Soviet Union, and a Pax Americana may no longer even be viable.

But then, I suspect that was the plan all along ...
