'Good news guys I've figured out how [his] campaign ends'

New York Times columnist Ross Douthat joked about an assassination ending Donald Trump's run for president.

The New York Times columnist caused a social media stir with a tweet that joked of billionaire businessman and GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump's assassination.

"Good news guys," wrote Ross Douthat in his tweet.

"I've figure out how the Trump campaign ends."

He then included a link to a YouTube video of the 1983 movie, "The Dead Zone," a movie that features Christopher Walken as a character who tries to shoot to death a politician played by Martin Sheen. Sheen's character uses a human baby to shield himself from the assassination attempt.

I understand Ross Douthat has been offered a contract by Comedy Central.

It's what the liberals call kind, caring, compassion.. nothing new..

from the 1980s there was a common joke among these caring, compassionate folks like then-Senator John Kerry that "If Bush is shot, the Secret Service has orders to shoot Dan Quayle."

Why am I not surprised that it was Ross Douchehat? The Secret Service should haul his butt in for questioning.

This situation about whatever this ‘joke’ is or is not, is not a sane way to talk about anyone, whether that person is a government official or an everyday person walking the streets of America...

This is beyond the pale of what America stands for...JFK was assassinated because some people didn't like his ‘management style’ or the things Kennedy thought at the time was good for this Country...are we reliving those days again by some ‘crack pot’ who has nothing better to do with his time than make a ‘sick joke’...and doesn't add anything to do to the NYT letting an article of this magnitude being let out, lets us know their reputation doesn't it?

We are at a cross roads right now in our Country, and there are billions over billions of dollars involved here, foreign countries all over the world are watching our Country right now to see how this election turns out, and we have some ‘crack pot’ running around with these insane ideas....we have a lot of ‘crack pots’ in the world and I'm am absolutely disgusted that this article is tied into this site of ‘inforwars.com’....maybe we had better watch closer to who is out there broadcasting whatever in their programs...

On this site, which is read world wide, is another concern...I'm sure Jim has had thoughts on this, at least he has on inforwars.com, he won't allow that to be posted on here, so now I wonder why it would be posted on Drudge report...I'm wondering about a lot of things right now, and let me tell you, they are not good...

I am asking Jim to prohibit these types of articles to be taken off of here, not only about Trump, but Cruz, Rubio or any other official in our government...sure we have our candidate, and sure we fight for them, and no we don't like obuma, but what would happen or what would you do if something like this came out about your candidate? Would you not speak up and say how you felt? Yes, I think you would....

CBS Apologizes for Talk Show’s Violent Bush Joke

August 10, 2000|PAUL BROWNFIELD
http://articles.latimes.com/2000/aug/10/news/mn-2108

CBS and the producers of “The Late Late Show With Craig Kilborn” apologized Wednesday for putting the words “Snipers Wanted” under footage of George W. Bush’s acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention..

As a clip was shown of Republican presidential nominee Bush giving his speech, “Snipers Wanted” appeared under his image for about five seconds.

“This graphic—which was not accompanied by any remarks from Mr. Kilborn—should not have been included in the telecast and is not consistent with our broadcast standards,” CBS said in a statement released Wednesday.

A CBS source called the joke “a misguided attempt at humor.”

“The Late Late Show” airs on CBS weeknights following “The Late Show with David Letterman.” Letterman’s company, Worldwide Pants, produces both programs.

The left is so shamelessly hypocritical.

This is not "the left." Douthat is a "conservative" columnist.

He is pro-Cruz.

Of course.

Hollywood Left Loved Snipers When It Came to George W. Bush

Kristinn Taylor Jan 22nd, 2015 2:10 pm 16 Comments

http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2015/01/hollywood-left-loved-snipers-when-it-came-to-george-w-bush/

The Hollywood Left is having fits over the success of American Sniper, the box office record-breaking bio-pic of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle directed by Clinton Eastwood that has garnered six Oscar nominations.

As has been reported, there is a campaign to undermine the film’s Academy Awards prospects.

Hollywood figures Michael Moore and Seth Rogen have made comments disparaging Kyle and the film that they have since tried to walk back after fierce blowback.

Back in 2000 however, the Hollywood Left put out an APB seeking snipers to assassinate then Texas Governor George W. Bush the day after he formally accepted the nomination to be the Republican Party’s presidential candidate.

On August 4, 2000 CBS Television broadcast an image of Bush making his acceptance speech with the wards “Snipers Wanted” overlayed on the lower third of the screen.

The incident took place on the Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn which was produced by David Letterman’s Worldwide Pants.

Other than a perfunctory Secret Service investigation and a letter from an FCC commissioner, CBS, Kilborn and Worldwide Pants faced no repercussions over the broadcast assassination solicitation.

CBS and Worldwide Pants issued a joint apology after nearly a week of mounting criticism from conservatives. Kilborn also made an on-air apology.

Unlike if this were to be done to President Barack Obama, there was no mass outrage from the political media over this broadcast solicitation to murder George W. Bush. It took the efforts of FReepers at FreeRepublic.com to force media and government attention.

Video and screengrabs of the incident have largely gone missing online. The Media Research Center has an archived report on the show and the aftermath published on August 24, 2000.

“Sounds like the “Freepers” at freerepublic.com, who have been publicizing Kilborn’s bad joke, are having an impact.

“As noted last week in CyberAlert, on the Monday, August 14 show, Kilborn did “apologize for a mistake we made....with a caption on our screen concerning Republican presidential candidate George W. Bush that should not have made it on the air.” He added: “I want to apologize personally to George W. Bush, our audience, the viewers at home, and to anyone else who was offended. I am sorry it happened.”

“A couple of weeks ago the MRC posted a video clip of the incident as shown by FNC, but it was without the Kilborn audio. MRC research associate Kristina Sewell has since obtained a copy of the original show and this afternoon MRC Webmaster Andy Szul will post it in this item in the posted version of this CyberAlert.

“The event occurred on the show aired the night of August 4 as Kilborn told this joke in his “In the News” segment parodies of news events: “Our top story, news from the dark side of the force. George W. Bush accepted the Republican nomination for President with a very stirring speech at the convention last night in Philadelphia. The delegates got a real sense of George W. or as he’s known to most Americans, Hollow Man.”

” Kilborn’s next joke: “Bush excited the crowd with his indictment of President Clinton, asking do you really want eight more years of peace, low inflation and unbelievable prosperity?”

Not even in Latin?

The one redeeming factor Trump has going for him is that he can buy the New York Times and shut it down.

What a statement that would make.

Sick, wack-o individual. The reason TRiUMPh

needs our prayers more than ever. The big guns are out and this is much more than a metaphor. This is out and out threats to the man. So where is Zero's SS detail in attempting to make the absurd and sick a reality? The attempt could come from any direction: Zero, NRC, lobbyists, media, None would be exempt from suspicion. Talk about a civil war would be more than just talk. The regime could not cover up another JFK assassination - or even an attempt. TRiUMPh

needs our prayers more than ever before. There are many lunatics in our land. And their strength is gaining.

As of this moment, it appears, the silence is deafening.
