To let people know where I stand: I am not on the Trump train. If he is the Republican nominee, I will likely vote third party. I am a conservative. This is not just lip service. My voting record includes voting for Pat Buchanan (twice), Alan Keyes (twice), Rick Santorum (twice), and Tom Hoefling.

Donald Trump is not a conservative. I believe that he is a skillful opportunist who isn’t rooted in conservative principles. Even if one accepts his words as truth, he is a very recent convert to conservatism—conveniently it would seem.

As I’ve stated before, one of my biggest complaints with at least some of Trump’s supporters is this: As a social conservative, I have been fighting in the Culture War for many years. Fifteen years ago, when those of like mind were trying to rally support to the conservative side, many (ahem) moderates who claimed to be Republican or even conservative were either nowhere to be found, or even worse were claiming that we were needlessly hyperventilating about the problem of the rising tide of liberal aggression in the social sphere. They assured us that they were on our side, but that there was nothing to worry about. When our fears were proven right, they said that there was nothing that we could do about it and it wasn’t that big of a deal anyway. Some even effectively took off their mask and revealed that they had all along been kindred spirits with the other side.

Now some of these same people who were AWOL in the Culture War are coming out of the woodwork and are accusing us of being part of the liberal establishment, when it was they who were complicit in the liberal establishment’s implementation of a new world social order.

Since they were noncombatants or even undercover enemies in the Culture War, I am apprehensive about making peace with them now. Those of us who have been fighting the Culture Wars and other political battles while most Trump supporters were sitting on their rears shouldn’t expect us to easily rally to their banner today.

I am amazed at the almost religious fervor among Trump supporters. If elected, I hope that he will be a great President. But, if I were a gambling man, I would bet strongly against it. I would also wager that most of those supporting him now will eventually be among his greatest critics.

Those who support the lesser of two evils are still complicit in evil.

It helps to accept that nothing this side of Heaven is perfect.

I’m voting for Trump, I’m sick and tired of GOPe telling us that we have to vote for. Sorry, 3rd party is voting for Marxists - Hillary or Sanders...

Friend, I appreciate your principles and strong stand — but isn’t a third party vote rather than for the Republican candidate a vote for Hillary or Bernie? Please think about it.

Those who support the lesser of two evils are still complicit in evil. Yep and please explain how, via inaction, allowing Hillary "Cult of Margret Sanger and Abortion" elected President is "lesser evil" then electing a President who talks to Conservative like Sean Hannity regularly?

Allowing 100% of evil to be elected via your inaction because your "perfect"candidate did not win the primary is not an morally justifiable position.
