Rubio’s verbal assault on Trump continues, joined by seven-figure ad buys
Washington Post ^ | 2/27/16 | David Weigel

It was the biggest crowd Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) had gotten in this state, more than 1500 voters filling the floor of a downtown event center to hear him. And for 10 minutes, that crowd laughed along with Rubio as he warned them to not “lose the conservative movement to a con man.”

-snip-

“Rubio won’t even win his home state,” said Mark Morris, 57. Trump, by contrast, reminded him of the Oscar-winning film “Gladiator,” and of Russell Crowe’s hero Maximus. “He survives the battle, and the emperor calls him in. The emperor says, ‘I need you to go to Rome.’ Maximus says, ‘I've never even been to Rome.’ He says, ‘That's why I want you to go. It’s corrupt there.’

Trump won that debate. He had those other clowns asserting that the mid-east does not require negotiation, or that it is OK that people die in the street. Trump was just setting himself up for the general. The idea that those guys got under his skin is wishful thinking by the media..they don’t want this to be over.

Not sure what Rubio is trying to do but I don’t see any Trump supporters switching to him with these attacks.

But some of the Cruzers will jump ship to Rubio on Wednesday.

Lots of them.

Then we’re going to need another bug zapper thread in here.

I think he is trying to get under Trumps skin, prompt a meltdown.

By he, I mean all the people that are managing him and telling him what to do.

Not seen any polls suggesting that Rubio is the second choice of Cruz voters. I have seen that Trump, when not the first choice, is often the second.

ruBIo isn’t trying to win anymore. He’s already been told about the plan, so now he just goes through the motions, makes puerile jokes, and fills the slot until it’s time to play switch-a-roo.

Probably true. But others will come over to Trump. Some others will pout and boycott. I plan to vote Cruz since Virginia is proportional, Cruz needs my vote and Trump is the second best candidate. But I will fully and completely support Trump in the general. All I ask from Cruz is that he stay in contest the whole way through.

Don't worry Marco, we know who the con man is, especially on immigration.

Rubio is done. He cannot even win his own state. He is over.

Provided courtesy of the donor crowd. Not something he accomplished on his own.

Roger Stone exposes this.

No! Surely you can’t be referring to the same Cruz perfects who claim to have solid, unwavering values! They’ve said so! How could their values change so quickly?

Jeb’s supporters/donors went straight to Rubio and I imagine they warned him that he better perform (because Jeb didn’t). They have told him to go out there and say whatever it takes. Rubio is easily bought off and is doing exactly what the money has ordered him to do.

1,500+, that’s his biggest rally, that’s nowhere near the thousands and even tens of thousands who have turned out for Trump.

Sorry, Marco, you’re fishy, and we don’t want you.

I’m a fan of the Gladiator film, and I’d suggest another quote - Are you not entertained. I myself am failing to be entertained by the alphabet news channels highlighting only the fight to stop Donald. Then for equal time, we get Sanders and Hillary talking policy positions. Average viewer thinks, Pubbies fight each other, Dems fight to make our country better. Wake up, friends.

I’m wondering how many were bussed in by the RNC, and his Super PAC to pad out his usual size crowd.
