Before political correctness, our soldiers were free to fight back.
Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is a New York writer focusing on radical Islam.
A century before American soldiers fought Muslim terrorism in the Middle East, they fought it in the Philippines. Their attackers were Moro Muslims whose savage fanaticism appeared inexplicable. A formerly friendly Muslim might suddenly attack American soldiers, local Muslim rulers promised friendship while secretly aiding the terrorists and the yellow left-wing press at home seized on every report of an atrocity to denounce American soldiers as murderers whose honor was forever soiled.
Much of what went on in that conflict, including the sacrifices of our soldiers, has been forgotten. The erasure has been so thorough that the media casually claims that the American forces did not use pig corpses and pig's blood to deter Muslim terrorists. Media fact checks have deemed it a "legend".
It's not a legend. It's history.
The practice began in the Spanish period. A source as mainstream as the New Cambridge History of Islam informs us that, "To discourage Juramentados, the Spaniards buried their corpses with dead pigs."
Juramentados was the Spanish term for the Muslim Jihadists who carried out suicide attacks against Christians while shouting about Allah. American forces, who had little experience with Muslim terrorists, adopted the term and the Spanish tactics of burying Muslim terrorists alongside dead pigs.
It was a less sensitive age and even the New York Times blithely observed that, "The Moros, though they still admire these frenzied exits from the world, have practically ceased to utilize them, since when a pig and a man occupy a single grave the future of the one and the other are in their opinions about equal."

They were obviously doing it all wrong. You need to celebrate the death of the Jihadist by having a pig roast. Then, the jihadist gets buried with the remains of the pig.
We always got bacon grease.
Oh come on don’t be so lazy........ tell us
(or were you blowing shakespearean smoke)
Good lord. Please do a tiny bit of research on the stuff.
Just a simple google search.
I think that your post was about the 45th posting of this story. Today makes it 46. There's going to be a prize for the 50th posting, so keep trying.

A simple Google search will lead you to what the political correct answer is . It just happens to be WRONG
In post #19 above, I have given links to 1903, 1904 and 1908 stories of the time. There were reports that moslem Moros were buried with pig carcases, but no report about the bullets and pig blood until 1968, from what Google searches turned up.

Of course, I was using a little humorous sarcasm because once a time this sort of thing was one of Free Republic's rule. Double posts were frowned upon and those who did it received some grief from other Freepers. No more.
This rule and others like posting without reading the article responding with just a phrase or a sentence fragment without engaging in a discussion was frowned upon. That's why Free Republic was different from all other forums and why it was the giant of the conservative sites. Unfortunately, the forum has seen better days, and the current behavior on the political threads is appalling. You are correct, so what? Post away.
So instead you believe Internet bullshit myths.
You are probably a 9/11 truther too. And a moon walk conspiracy believer.
The dearth of education and paranoia is strong with you.
Black Jack Pershing
by Richard O’Connor - Doubleday, 1961
Page 63
“...Pershing nodded to another officer, and a moment later two orderlies appeared. One carried a dead pig, the other a bucket of pig’s blood. More than anything else, the Moros feared contamination by a pig, which would bar them from the Mohammedan heaven. Pershing scooped up a dipper of the blood, enough to spatter the assembled sultan and his chieftains, then pointed to the treaty. One by one they stepped forward and agreed to the treaty. These various techniques, friendly and forcible, proved their value in the hard campaigning ahead. Pershing had only 700 men under his command and could have been wiped out in the coming year of marching and fighting if the thousands of Malanaos in the lake districts decided to rise up against him...”

Pompous much ?
Thanks for the pings and links on post 19.

Thanks for the historical analysis. Current events always make the most sense in their historical context.
marked for later
This is an excellent historical analysis that is badly needed to offset the propaganda coming from the Left. It’s a fortuitous coincidence that this discussion would occur at the same time as another in which the name of George Putnam was mentioned. For those who are not familiar with George, he was a mainstay of the news, commentary, and talk radio scene in Southern California for over a half-century prior to his death in 2008. As mentioned, on the issue of Mexican immigration he was like an Old Testament prophet warning his people of the evils to come if they did not change their ways. He was similarly emphatic about the Muslim menace and often recounted the story of Pershing and other US troops using the blood and carcasses of pigs to help suppress insurgents during the Moro insurrection in the Philippines after the Spanish-American War. Most of his talk radio career was at what was then KIEV 870 in Glendale (now KRLA), from which he was dismissed in 2001 after 25 years, reportedly in large part due to hostility from the “center-right” (RINOs) then wielding influence at the station. Some of the same center-right talk show hosts are still there but now, ironically but fortunately, are offset by a lineup of fire-breathing conservatives, most notably Mark Levin in the 3:00-6:00 pm time slot. George was a pioneer in giving voice to politically incorrect viewpoints that now are increasingly acknowledged as factually true and necessary to discuss. Hopefully, this is a bit of karmic justice for George Putnam and that he is now in a better place.
You got it.
Will do.
He was just making the point that if someone is shot in the chest with an M-1911, it's going to do a lot of damage and leave a large exit wound.
“...He was just making the point that if someone is shot in the chest with an M-1911, it’s going to do a lot of damage and leave a large exit wound.”
Whatever other qualifications that ROTC instructor owned, he did not have enough knowledge of small arms projectile terminal effects, nor wound ballistics.
At the velocity developed by 45 ACP, a jacketed bullet (required for military use) will not expand. Exit wound diameter will be the same as entry wound diameter.
45 ACP possess the shortest effective range and has the poorest penetration characteristics of any of the military handgun cartridges of its class. It MIL STD loading - the loading the military has used for generations - develops lower kinetic energy than 9x19mm NATO.
The oft-maligned 9mm NATO was not selected purely for political considerations, as some US gun enthusiasts apparently believe. It produces greater effective range and its capability to penetrate soft body armor is superior. This was judged important in the 1980s, when concern was growing about modernization of equipment in Warsaw Pact military units. Since the 9mm round has half the mass of the 45 round, and its diameter is about 25 percent smaller, more rounds can be carried for a given weight and more will fit into a handgun of a given size.
After-action reports from WWII’s CBI theater indicate that in some instances, the inferior penetration of the 45 ACP worked to Allied advantage. At close range, 9mm bullets from submachine guns would zip through enemy soldiers and not always put them down; at lower velocity, 45 ACP slugs fired from Thompson guns would penetrate the near side of the body cavity, lose velocity and bounce off the inside of the far side of the body cavity, causing severe bruising there and then expending any remaining energy doing internal injuries.
Enemy soldiers went down: no exit wounds.
