Full Title: Game Change: Jeff Sessions Endorses Trump from Stage in Alabama; Stunning Event Unites Populist, Nationalist Movement

MADISON, Alabama -- 2016 GOP presidential frontrunner billionaire Donald Trump will pick up the most significant endorsement any presidential candidate in the GOP can get here on Sunday: Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL).

Sessions, the intellectual leader of the future of the conservative movement, has provided the brainpower behind the populist nationalist revolt against political elites that's been emerging since at least 2013.

At a warm and windy rally here with thousands present in a packed football stadium just outside Huntsville, Sessions will appear on stage with Trump to back him for president. Sessions' endorsement provides Trump with even more legitimacy as Trump's two remaining serious opponents -- Sens. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)-- attempt to undermine him in a desperate bid by the donor class to regain control of the party from populists revolting in elections around the country. Sessions backing Trump is a significant blow to both Rubio and Cruz, as now the powerful Alabamian will be putting his entire operation all in behind Trump.

I was hoping that Sessions wouldn’t endorse anyone just yet. Even though I like Cruz, I have no illusions about some of his more irrational, Intolerant supporters.

I knew if Sessions endorsed Trump that he would be slandered & cursed. And, I was right. Twitter is exploding with violently angry Cruz worshippers slandering Sessions.

I haven’t read any posts about the endorsement on FR yet because I know the knives will be out. Honestly, the vile behavior of some Cruz worshippers are making me think twice about my vote.

I don’t understand the anger, anyway. It’s just an endorsement. I don’t know why some people get so worked up over endorsements. Vote for which candidate that holds the positions that you agree with.

I understand those decisions are weighed but that post was over the top.

Thanks for noticing! :^)

“Looks like he’s out for himself .. and screw the Republic.”

I think you are confusing Sessions with many others in congress who have long track records of doing what you wrote.

Maybe Sessions means what he said in his endorsement and thinks better border security and good immigration policy are big issues and Trump is the only one who will get those handled.

Yeah, I’ve seen some ignorant mouth breathers already doing that on Twitter. Stupidity knows no bounds.

No argument from me on that.

We are in uncharted waters. Some of us feel that certain risky behavior is less risky than proceeding with the status quo.

Being wrong is always a risk when one takes action.

Yes,there’s a problem with YOU. If some of you trumpsters continue with your hateful posts you will NOT get the votes of Cruz or Rubio fans. Cruz Is a US citizen. knock it off.

Never heard a racist thing out of Trump

Nor have I. But over at MSNBC they'll take something Trump has said, maybe like "I like coffee", and then bring on silly activists who will explain why the statement is racist.

So I guess it all depends where you get your news.

There is nothing hateful in my posts. It is fact: Eleanor Wilson repudiated her U.S. citizenship for Canadian citizenship before her son was born in Calgary. He was registered as a Canadian citizen.

There is nothing hateful in that statement.

This is Sessions first endorsement, ever in 20 years in the Senate. If he wanted goodies, he would be endorsing every 4 years, ya know?

I don’t like Trump’s demeanor, but with this trifecta of endorsements (and Chris Christie’s honorable mention, whom I respect even while acknowledging his New York values), it is becoming easier for me to overcome my intrinsic distaste for Trumpian bombast.
________________

I had to get used to Mr. Trump. I decided to go with the substance of his positions over his personality. There are many voters, if you dig into the polls, who prefer his positions, but not his personality.

Guess, its not a beauty contest after all!

Yeah, well, Trump can’t win without Glenn Beck’s endorsement. /s

Yeah, well, Trump could probably Glenn Beck's holy compass if he really wanted to pretend swearing in.

Many of us here have had multiple posts. I have had I happen when but not deliberately. I keep waiting and nothing happened until I push the button again. No need to get nasty over something this trivial.

Ditto

He might but it will be closer after the Sessions endorsement. That should cut into his lead.

What do you think?

I haven’t been following the polls but if they’ve been among registered Republicans then I think Trump will win because TX is an open primary.

Trump does well among Independents.
