Trump: My immigration plans aren't set in stone; Parts are "negotiable"
Politico ^ | 03/01/2016 | Hanna Trudo

Posted on 03/01/2016 8:03:10 AM PST by SeekAndFind

Donald Trump says parts of his immigration proposals are “negotiable,” but only minor details about his border wall.

In an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Monday night, Trump responded to a question about a recent claim, first introduced by BuzzFeed earlier in the day, that he told The New York Times editorial board in an off-the-record tape-recorded meeting that he may not follow through with his proposed immigration measures if he is elected president.

“The New York Times is claiming today that they had an off-the-record conversation with you in January,” Hannity started.

“We had a board meeting, it was off-the-record, suddenly they leak it, it’s all over the place,” Trump said.

“They said it’s negotiable on the wall,” Hannity said in reference to Trump’s stance on Mexican immigration and his oft-stated promise to build a border wall.

“By the way it is negotiable. Things are negotiable,” Trump said. “I’ll make the wall 2 feet shorter or something.”

Trump was quick to add that the negotiation does not include nixing the idea altogether.

“Building it? Not negotiable.”

Would it be negotiable about the 11 million?” Hannity pressed. “Maybe let some people stay if they register in a period of time?”

“I would say this,” Trump answered. “We will work out some system that’s fair, but we either have a country or we don’t. We need a border. We need a wall.”

Trump will walk back his Muslim ban just as soon as the UAE moves to nationalize his Dubai property. That is the way they roll. Now, who owns whom???

Ok, that is between him and his 2 ex wives and ultimately God. Ronald Reagan was divorced and signed the most liberal state abortion law in the 1965 or 1966 in CA when Governor.

Couple of points...One, Donnie made it EVERYONE's business when he decided to brag about it in a BOOK to promote himself. So no it is NOT between him and his exs. You are also forgetting the other victims of his behavior. The spouses of those he had the affair with. Typicial...

Second, It was Donnie the mouth that has been going after Cruz and his religion as if he is some kind of decider of depth of faith...While openly lieing about others and at the same time claiming he is a Christian.

Do you sense One ounce of seeking of forgiveness for the damage his behavior has brought not to him but to others? No, me either.

He has to say that... he’d rather say that than have the NY Times play the tape.... which they will eventually.

Hey! You realize when you put type in like that, everyone reading this on a tablet or phone sees all of the type on the page shrink to where its unreadablele.

I appreciate your enthusiasm. I hate what it does to my iPad.

Count on it. He is gonna be nailed on it come Thursday's debate. Unless he hides again. So Donnie, the Media is reporting.....What did you say and why will you not allow the tape to be played in public to verify you are telling the voters the same thing you told the Press behind closed doors?

Okay so there are many things you talked about off the record...Will you allow the portion ONLY dealing with Deportations and the wall to be released? If not why? Why would you tell the press something that you claim you are saying in public but you won't allow the public to hear what you said outside of the public view? He's got no good answer if he is lieing...

Well, that was not good, I admit, I have never read one of Trump’s books. I am aware of him more from Sports, he was a USFL owner back in the 80’s and Herschel Walker from the University of Georgia, former Heisman winner, played for him before going to the NFL with Dallas. I also follow the PGA (more than any other sport these days) and he owns Trump Doral where the WGC is being played this week and bought one of the courses used in the Open Championship rota (Royal Troon I believe) and his business dealings to some degree.

As for Cruz and is religion, I am not here to criticize anyone’s religious belief, but I do have concerns when someone has been told by his Father that God as Preordained him to be president of the U.S.

While I am not a Rubio supporter, his terminology of giving Glory to God and if it is God’s will that he be president, doesn’t come across to me that same way Cruz’s religious expressions.

Sorry, that is just how I see it.

As for Trump and has he tried to heal or seek forgiveness, I can’t actually answer that question. Now, if Trump were my parish priest or Bishop of my Local Catholic Diocese, not my kind of guy, but he is running for president.

One side affect to Trump trashing people that have dealt with him in the past by exposing private communications etc...

EVERYONE realizes he will throw them under the bus when the time comes, so expect a bunch to use their ammo before he can take aim at them first.

It has to be negotiable because Congress has to go along with this stuff and you are never going to get them to pass your agenda as is.

Nothing to negotiate. Law and funding has already been passed and signed into law.

Start rounding them up, sending them south and get the wall built.

Absolutely no further authority needed.

GIT ER DONE!

Negotiation is a given if you want to get anything done in our governing system. The problem has been that the representatives we have elected to negotiate for us have been tools of the donor and ruling class. They were not really working for the people and therefore the deals they made were not for the people who voted for them.

What we want and desperately need is someone who will negotiate for us and get the best deal possible for us. We haven’t actually had that since Reagan.
