Roger Stone: If Rubio Loses Florida, ‘Abundantly Clear Mitt Romney Is Waiting In The Wings’
Breitbart ^ | 03/01/16 | Dan Riehl

Posted on 03/01/2016 1:34:53 PM PST by Enlightened1

Republican campaign veteran Roger Stone tells Breitbart News Daily host Stephen K. Bannon, “I have reported, and I stand by this, that a number of the billionaires who are funding

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)
79%

have told him that he has until the Florida primary on March 15th to show some leg. If he cannot win his home state primary, it will be very hard to continue to justify his campaign. At that point, I think it is abundantly clear that Mitt Romney is waiting in the wings.”

Stone continued:

Notice how Romney is suddenly tweeting all the anti-Trump tweets? So, he’s been quiet for months and now he’s suddenly carping about Trump’s tax returns. Now he’s carping about this phony story about David Duke, who Trump has no truck with whatsoever. I think Mitt gets into those late primaries … in an effort to soak up votes. The purpose here is not to defeat Trump overall. It’s just to stall him on the first ballot.

“Here’s what they say,” said Stone, when asked to describe the reaction of powerful Republicans, “we have to stall this guy short on the first ballot. We’ve got to stall him just short of the magic numbers.”

He goes on to point out that with delegates free to vote as they want after the first ballot and the establishment picking delegates in many states, such as New York for example, Trump could conceivably lose as many as 100 votes on a second ballot, opening the door for Romney, or another challenger.

Mittens. He should have gone away for good after his 2012 drubbing.

If the GOP establishment wants to run another Designated Loser, let ‘em have at it.

I will never vote for their puppet Mittens.

trump is on this. After Super Tuesday I think he’ll deal with Romney and Ryan. He’s already given his play...they’re losers. They couldn’t beat a far left President who is hated by at least half of the country.

They did a typo here. I mean, talk about and Trump typos, this typo in their headline is a whopper.

The typo was, the actual headline was supposed to read:

Roger Stone: If Rubio Loses Florida, ‘Abundantly Clear Mitt Romney Is Waiting In The Wingnuts’

Just wanted to clear that up before anyone gets embarrassed over the typo.

Impy:

We need your take on this “delegates free to vote however they want after the first ballot” idea. What do we know about how it actually goes? How is it likely going to go this time if it comes to it?

I’ve never witnessed the GOP fight this hard against any candidate, ever. The fact that the candidate is a GOP candidate. Can you just imagine how far the GOP would get if they focused just HALF this effort against the dummycrats?

The Harold Stassen Of GOP establishment politics.

They’re panicked over Trump and the best they can offer us is a worn-out retread?

LOL!

At the rate things are going, by the time Rubio loses Florida, it will be too late to stop Trump.

I agree, it's refreshing to actually go up against the GOPe, they are good, good at losing.

If it is a caucus rather than a primary, I think the normal rules don’t apply. Was this a caucus?

Romney would lose again. He’s not running. They need a straw man 3rd party candidate to take a dive against Trump. Hildabeast would give the GOP what they really want. TPP, Amnesty, socialized medicine, etc.

The state GOPe’s can revised and add candidates for primaries and caucuses at will. The Republication Party is a private entity so they can make rules up as they go.

They have a dilemma right now whether to put Romney in the race and have him try to win enough delegates to stop Trump or whether to try and get him on enough ballots as an independent candidate to give the election to Hillary. Only about eleven states are available where that could occur.

I was beginning to shy away from trump and that ego of his; but romney hops in I’ll be back in trump’s corner. I have lots of concerns with trump, I have grave concerns with “the establishment” and my well being.

Mitt Romney has lost TWICE. He’s a winner at losing ...

As Jeb would say, “he’s proven”.

Mitt will fix it.
