While I like Newt, the guy spouts off some of them most astounding ding bat comments at times.

I especially like his talks on the Constitution. He’s brilliant at time. And he does it again.

I have mixed thoughts on him.

Gingrich was once a shining light (like Ryan), but he sold out a loooong time ago, there is no disputing that.

I’m not sure what they really want. Their chosen candidates certainly aren’t perfect- even by their own standards.

I’m thinking the Speaker of the House, who’s set to preside over the Republican convention in June,

He'll be a month early if he is. It's in July, stupid.

It was pretty much the same people who hated Newt in 2012. Their pick was Santorum back then, & Newt was the ‘’sinner’’ & the ‘’liberal’’.

Who do you think these "anti-Trumpers" are? Cruz supporters are busy backing Cruz; they have nothing to do with this phenomenology of which Allahpundit writes. The real Trump-haters are the pseudo-patrician New York and New England, school-tie Yankee Yacht Club folks who despise Cruz for the same reason they hate Trump: Below the salt! Not 'people like us'! Non-tennis-playing, non-whiteshoe, non-Bonesman air conditioning repairman, Joe-the-Plumber scum people! -- ewww!

This is a social phenomenon, not an ideological one. The conservative people are clustered around Cruz and Carson mostly, with some adhering to Rubio and Trump. This anti-Trumping is pure revulsion by the moneyed, powerful, and old-school GOP leadership and ownership against a parvenu, an arriviste High Prole with sleazy money (i.e., not yet purified by passing through two or three generations of trust funds).

(For the terminology of "High Prole", consult Paul Fussell's Class, which explains the worldview and lifestyle of "top-out-of-sight" "U" people. ["U" as in "upper".])

But in the language FReepers use, the anti-Trumpers are not "conservative": They're RiNO's, East Coast social liberals who know how to count, and who are presently being turfed out of leadership of the GOP by insurgents clustering around Cruz, Carson, and Donald Trump.

This is the final, eventual reply of the 2010 Tea Party people whom John Boehner told, when Michele Bachmann came to him with Nancy Pelosi's oversized gavel in hand and laid it on his desk and asked for a leadership role in return,

"It's not your turn."

A little grace and patronage at that time could have spared these guys, but no.

Now it's our turn.

No offense, but God Forbid it, it will never BE ‘’y’all’s turn’’.

I would sooner live under ISIS. Same difference.

Nice diversion. No sale.

More here, with Rush doing the explaining who the anti-Trumpers are .... and mentioning how “Schmucky Chucky” Schumer took a hand on behalf of the RiNO’s during the 2013 “Gang of Eight” Shamnesty push:

Who do you think "y'all" are .... and why do you hate "y'all" like that?

"I would sooner live under ISIS?" Really? Really! BS artist.

"Same difference" -- no matter who you're talking about, using that language about Americans is a gross insult.

Apologize.

Educate yourself, please. Unless you are an operative.

What I am referring to, specifically, are ‘’conversions’’ at gunpoint, under the threat of death- including Jews (Mike Bickle/ IHOP), stoning/ killing homosexuals & ‘’adulterers’’ (according to them), practicing Christians who do not subscribe to their particular, dominionist beliefs. . . and more.

People who have *endorsed* Ted Cruz- and he has touted their endorsements, make no secret of these ‘’mandates’’. They claim ‘’God’s Authority’’.

How does this differ from ISIS?

A ‘’gross insult’’ is trivial compared to the blasphemy that Cruz & his backers espouse.
Not to mention the utter destruction of American sovereignty that Cruz has already *acted* upon. And then tried to ‘talk his way out of’, once the damage was already done.

Don’t hold your breath.

From where I sit, the entrenched political class, pundits and pols both, are terrified of Trump for the reasons you note.

The uber rich and Wall Street have been next to silent as Trump ascends. Why? The rich will get richer under a Trump administration. Way richer.

The rest of us, not so much.

JMO.

Why? The rich will get richer under a Trump administration. Way richer. The rest of us, not so much.

Why do you say that, dmz? On what basis do you KNOW this? What evidence do you have to back up this statement?

The Anti-Trumpers do not hesitate to attribute the most nefarious motives to this man on the basis of sheer, self-interested speculation (self-projecting onto The Donald the deepest, darkest flaws in their own characters in the process); and they are experts in predicting what he will do in office (on the basis of no evidence at all).

Indeed, Ted Cruz is the master of this game, which is why I regard him as a snake-oil salesman, a world-class, smarmy sophist (fully manifesting the characteristics of specious reasoning and moral relativism that practiced sophistry entails).

But I have to believe that any candidate who wants to make this election "about" The Donald and his fitness for office -- and here I specifically mean Cruz and Rubio, and the GOPe more generally -- is an idiot. Aren't presidential elections supposed to be about the future well-being of the American polity, as We the People understand such matters?

If the GOPe gets "creative" at Cleveland, trying to thwart the will of We the people, it will have committed suicide.
