Trump underperformed. He got only 40% of the vote and picked up only a net 25 delegates. At this rate nobody will have 50%+1 delegates when the convention starts.

They know they will have to honor the primary election or all of Trump’s supporters will vote Democrat down on all offices - local, state, judges, Congress, President, etc.
Scorched earth policy really isn’t just for elites. Voters can also hand the lighter off.
The GOP wrote the rules so the later, winner take all primaries will matter greatly. Everything’s been proportional (or hybrid) until now. So this rate can only last until March 15.
For example: NJ, PA, IN and CA combine for 351 delegates, almost all winner take all.
