Endgame for Rubio? Team Cruz promising to make a “strong play” for Florida
Hot Air ^

If they’re serious about this, it’s next to impossible to see how Rubio beats Trump there. And if Rubio doesn’t beat Trump there, it’s next to impossible to see how he’s the nominee, even at a brokered convention.

“For the candidates who have not yet won a state, who have not racked up significant delegates, I ask you to prayerfully consider uniting,” Cruz said.

Going forward, Cruz’s team plans to make a play for Florida, Rubio’s must-win state, hoping to benefit from a cage match there between Trump and Rubio.

“We will actively campaign in Florida,” said a senior Cruz aide. “A food fight between those two in Florida, that’s a good opportunity. We’re gonna make a strong play in Florida.”

Cruz’s SuperPACS have many tens of millions of dollars to do this.

Go Cruz!

Pushing Rubio out to third place in FL should (emphasis on Should) take the junior senator out of the race.

Unless he has been promised some kind of anointment in Cleveland.

Florida was ALWAYS the end game of this election.

If Trump wins Florida, it’s game over.

The fact is... even without Florida it’s probably game over, but with Florida, it’s 100% certain.

The Rubio pac commercial playing non-stop here in Florida says Trump put on a white sheet, then threw an old woman out the window on to some veterans that were too close to Trump’s casino

Rubio won’t engage with a cage match with Trump if Cruz is planning to fight him on is home turf.
He Rubio doesn’t win Florida, he’s done in politics. He won’t win an election in Florida again.
He will turn his fight to Cruz.

But they are still stuck with an unappealing candidate. Spending won’t help, look at Jeb!

Coming on the heels of his big wins on Super Tuesday in the heavily evangelical South...

Oh, that was last week’s promises. Sorry. My mistake.

Why should Marco quit when he’s way ahead of Cruz in FL?

Rubio winning MN was better for Trump than if Trump had won it. There would have been a lot of pressure on Rubio to quit if he had won nothing. Now he can point to a win.

It is typical Cruz, using God to advance his personal ambition.

He loves suckers and he does have a few.

So far, people haven’t bought his crap.

As much as I like Ted, unless he has internal polling showing a much closer race than it appears, his money and time would be better spent in states where he can pick up delegates, than in a state where even a close 2nd would not give him anything.

Now, if the super PACS want to drop a ton of ads in FL and OH against Trump, I would be fine with that. I’d like to see Rubio win FL, and Kasich win OH.

Cruz should be trying to help out knock out Rubio in FL.

But he won’t, because he isn’t serious about trying to make this a 1-1 Cruz vs. Trump matchup.

Not going to happen. Rubio will be strong enough in South Florida to keep him in second to Trump.
