I was speaking to the obvious double standard in the media when it comes to reporting racially sensitive information. If it is about physical descriptions then think we agree that skin complexion may be useful to help apprehend the suspect.

On the other hand, I think we disagree about "ethnic" background. I don't think it is reliable to guess a perp's ethnic background from a picture and therefore not necessarily useful to an investigation.

I confess that I am not familiar with official police policy or journalistic standards so that is why I am interested in all reasonable opinions.
