Trump apologists see this as an attempt by Trump to go back to the ORIGINAL INTENT of H1-B — to allow the HIGHLY SPECIALIZED, HIGHLY SKILLED ( e.g. the Albert Einstein’s of the world ) to get a fast track.

Whether this is the case or not, I don’t know.

Just like the apologists for Pope Francis every time he says something controversial, people tend to “read their own interpretations” into what he says.

In other words -— they want to give him ALL benefit of the doubt.

Cruz has effectively morphed into this position without repudiation of his prior intent to expand the H-1B program. I think that lack of repentence is a terrible character flaw, particularly in a person claiming to be a devout Christian. He should have done the same about his vote on the Corker Bill.

Not much different then what we practiced in the years following WWII when we highly recruited that kind of talent, as it was necessary for the advancement of our aerospace and rocket technology and critical for our national defense. That of course is different than how the H1B program is abused now, and Trump states his desire to eliminate those abuses, which he needs to hold true to his word.
