It looks like Cruz will win Kansas and Maine today. Trump should win Louisiana. How goes Kentucky?

Cruz is out performing the polls by 30-40% in Kansas and Maine, in relation to Trump. How do you know it won't happen in the other states?

Looks like the LIES Cruz told about Trump during the debate is paying off big time.

There's a possibility that Trump's responses during the debate were too much for many "nice" people. Or as Nate Silver said:

"Is it a coincidence that some of Trump’s worst performances so far are in “nice” states like Minnesota and Kansas, and that his best is in neurotic, loud Massachusetts? I’m not saying this is the most important factor, but it’s something worth thinking about."

He (Cruz) was not talking about the past, he was talking about now.

Cruz said Trump ***is*** pro-abortion. He did not say “was”, he said “is”.

As a Trump Supporter, I would agree with that

That debate was not good for Trump, he should have raised money for vets again

I don’t know that. But Trump was furthest ahead in the polls in LA, which is not a caucus and it’s in the south which seems to be Trump territory. If Cruz pulls out LA, he’s having an amazing day, which I would enjoy as a Cruz supporter. Hope they call ME soon and looking forward to hearing about KY (and LA).

Another theory that Nate has put forward is the "geographic size" theory.

In states where the geography is broad, organization is critical. Trump is losing some of the bigger states... I'm guessing that parts of Kansas are nearly a day's drive from where he did his rally.

Geographically smaller states, where the impact of a Trump visit is spread throughout the state are much more likely to have a big impact.

Not espousing that theory, necessarily, but it's worth pondering.

Cruz has a much better organization. It has shown.

Thank you! That makes sense too. I am enjoying reading Nate’s commentary.

Rubio <10% in Maine, and <20-% in KS? He might not make it to his home state primary. At least with out any dignity left.

Trump said in the last 6 months that the 25% of people who couldn’t afford insurance that “government’s gonna pay for it”. He also said that he was going to require coverage of preexisting conditions. That is socialized health care even you aren’t bright enough to realize it.

In addition he said he was for the mandate and then “clarified” that he was against it. Just one little detail though... You can’t cover preexisting conditions if you don’t have a mandate requiring people to buy insurance. Otherwise no one would buy health insurance until they had a serious problem that needed treatment. You would be a fool to buy if they have to take you after the fact.

Trump just says stuff and few of his supporters actually think it through.

How the hell do you really know what Trump “is” on any given day. It changes with the weather - and will continue to do so. The man has no core principles other than self promotion.

OK first Cruz won Kansas, then he won Maine (at least according to Decision Desk HQ.) So now on to Kentucky, which looks to be pretty close.
