Why Louisiana tells us the most about Trump
Washington Examiner ^ | March 6, 2016 | W. James Antle III

Louisiana ... was a primary rather than a caucus. Trump won the state on strength of early voters. He lost among people who showed up on election day. The RealClearPolitics polling average showed him leading by 15.6 percentage points, but he only carried Louisiana by 3.6 points.

Trump finished on the low end of his March polling, with a shade more than 41 percent of the vote, while Cruz overperformed even the high end at better than 37 percent.

If there was any sign that an anti-Trump vote is coming together, we saw it in Louisiana.

Well, then tell that to Little Marco who went there. And then retreat to your fainting couch.

Yeah, it looks like Cruz has once again become a respectable candidate. What do you want to bet that he's got people meeting with Rubio and Kasich's people this morning to try to combine their strength to solidify "Anti-Trump" forces?

This is where the proverbial "smoke filled rooms" come into play. Rubio and Kasich probably know they don't have enough support to take the gold ring. A deal, under the table of course, to make Rubio Secretary of State or Secretary of Defense, and Kasich Secretary of the Treasury or Secretary of Commerce might pull this all together.

Cruz has avoided insulting DT supporters, making it easy for them to switch to Cruz in the privacy of the voting booth, where the printed names force last-minute reflection. You need to tell your guy to quit the fratboy schtick in the debates.

Very true. He is the ultimate establishment guy. Everything in his past and present has been with the establishment. With Cruz the slide continues.

Follow Cruz’s government revolving door employment record.

Better than the liberals trump gave money to and invited to his most recent wedding.

Cruz somewhat avoided getting creamed in Louisiana by winning several parishes along the border with Texas. That Donald Trump took Orleans Parish and all the Florida parishes they way he did belies his strength. Winning this state by doing so is no small feat from a candidate from Manhattan especially when he’s running against a candidate from neighboring Texas.

I expect that he will repeat this in Mississippi but I am not as familiar with that electorate as I am in LA.

New York Values/d*ck jokes are appalling to non-NYers.

Very true, but if you had followed the exchange over the course of several days, you would be aware that it was a a VERY DESPERATE senor Amnesty, aka Little Marco, cuban cabana boy, who brought up the subject during a speech in Virgina -

"SALEM, Virginia — Marco Rubio again unleashed an array of sharp attacks on Republican frontrunner Donald Trump, jabbing at his 'small hands' and 'spray tan'.And you know what they say about guys with small hands, Rubio said with a smile, prompting stunned laughter from the crowd."

So this is a cuban "joke" prompted by Little Marco's handlers, not a NY one.

Why bring Palin into it? She was good enough for Cruz when she endorsed him.

This is how Romeny took it last time, and McCain the time before that. Will they have enough this time?

well, if people are so dumb to listen

That's exactly the kind of crap that Mitt Romney and the rest of the establishment have been saying about those of us who are ready to vote for Trump.

There is a guy who fills in for O’Reilly when he is not there can’t remember his name. Anyway he did a segment with Chris Wallace the day after the debate and said to him that Wallace and the other 2 who did the debate “killed it in the ratings.” What he was implying is that the moderators were the reason the ratings were so good.

These people are so delusional that they think they are the stars and without them there would be no ratings. They are totally crazy. Fox News seems like it is on a downward spiral.

Nobody knows the answer to that question. I'm waiting until after the primaries, and then I'll know which Replican I'm going to support in the general elections.

Personal revelation here - I got my thoroughly useless degree in Political Science, and I'm a certified Political Science geek. This has been the most interesting and entertaining political season in my adult lifetime, and I could live with any of the remaining candidates, considering the alternative.

Cruz wins in caucus states where shenanigans take place. Kansas is not a good demographic for nat. campaign. How many primary wins does Rafael have? It's down to Florida and Ohio. Rafael proves he can win either one of those and then he's a real threat to Trump.

How does this author explain Kentucky? I agree that Ted Cruz out peformed the polls big time, and I’m glad that it appears our choice comes down to 2 guys that I can happily support. I still think Trump has the best chance to beat Hillary, but Ted Cruz is pretty smart and so he’s worth a shot.

When the entire conservative media and MSM spend the week lying that you are a KKK and David Duke supporter, and when debate formats are changed to a 2 hour attack show against you, and you still win a couple states; that ain’t bad.
