In a move that endangers a major sector of German agriculture, there is an effort to ban pork sausages from public cafeterias in schools, hospitals, nurseries, and elsewhere. Judged as a portion of tax revenue, pork agriculture accounts for nearly a fifth of the local economy in Germany’s Schleswig-Holstein region. Pork sausages are at the very heart of Germany’s traditional cuisine. Yet the decisions have been made in many parts of Germany to simply remove pork from public life.
There is some opposition to the move to strip pork sausages from Germany.
“The protection of minorities – including for religious reasons – must not mean that the majority is overruled in their free decision by ill-conceived consideration,” said [parliamentarian Daniel] Guenther, as quoted by Deutsche Welle, arguing that tolerance must mean “the appreciation and sufferance of other food cultures and lifestyles.”
In the face of similar pressures, a city in Denmark recently passed a law that mandated pork be on the menu in public spaces. The Danish government says that this is to protect its traditional culture, including its food culture. Muslim advocates say that it is to try to limit Islamic immigration to the city by creating a hostile environment.
The moves to get pork removed from the menus of public cafeterias are either a case of self-censorship by Germans, or a case of civilizational jihad. If they are self-censorship by German institutions, they may still be motivated by advice from branches of the Muslim Brotherhood received at the highest levels of the German government. In either case, the move serves the purposes of civilization jihad: it prepares the German people to submit to Islam. They are becoming conditioned to living under sharia law — in this case, to accepting the absence of pork from their menus, even though it means disposing of aspects of their traditional culture that they may quite value.
For some reason, no one describes this as “creating a hostile environment” for Germans or Danes. When someone moves to create a public space in which core expressions of your traditional culture are banned as offensive, that someone has engaged in a hostile act. If a Western government were to go to an Islamic country and ban some traditional aspect of the culture, we would describe it as “imperialism” or — for those most committed to the idea that this is wrongful behavior — “cultural genocide.”
For some reason, when our own government does it to us, we accept it as justice. Must our traditional cultures be dissolved to make way for Islam?

Sept 9, 2015. Schools in Germany are ordering teenage girls not to wear mini-skirts or shorts so as to prevent attacks from Muslim migrants who may be offended by such attire.
Decent cuts can be found here now for less than twice what I think they should cost, so it’s getting better, almost seems reasonable by comparison. For a while there, you couldn’t buy a steak from a butcher for less than it cost in a restaurant with all the sides just a few years ago. That was just too much, relegating steaks to family birthdays. Currency exchange rates caused beef (and everything else) to get expensive up there, I understand?
A hundred kinds of sausage; a dozen kinds of bacon and ham, barbecued butt, ribs, and whole hog, closed or open pit, chops and roasts. There’s lot of ways to serve pork, and I love everyone of them, and am armed.

“Submitting to Islam”...instead, they should have told the followers of the religion of pieces to stick the pork sausage where the sun never shines...seems too ridiculous that those followers can’t be adult enough to choose not to order pork on their own, but obviously common sense has left the building with Elvis. Snark off.

Germans need to go whole hog & eat bratwurst w/brotchen & beer in every public venue. It can’t end this way, Germany!!
You couldn’t buy a decent roast for under $40.00 (family of 4). Lean ground beef was about $7 a pound, which is what a strip loin steak used to be.
I actually saw a package of marrow bones (4 bones, NO meat, with marrow) for $12.00!
It’s come down a bit - I bought some of the pieces they take off of the top of a prime rib roast, the caps, and did them tonight in olive oil, red wine, garlic, parsley, salt and pepper. Slow roasted for about 3 hours at 325 and they were lovely.
Just ban the goat-fornicators from you country and all these problems go away.
Did all meat go through the roof, or did you have a refuge in pork like we did? Maybe that was a regional quirk, this state is a major pork producer.

Pork stayed fairly reasonable. My son-in-law and daughter have a hog farm, although that didn’t get momma any free pork!

Bet Germany wouldn’t cater to the one or two Jews still remaining by making all public cafeterias serve only Kosher food.

Most Jews that I’ve met don’t really care what other folks eat. I shared an office for several years with a Jewish guy; my ham sammiches never bothered him. Mohammedans are a different matter entirely.
