Seeing Trump as vulnerable, GOP elites now eye a contested convention
Washington Post ^

PARK CITY, Utah — The presentation is an 11th-hour rebuttal to the fatalism permeating the Republican establishment: Slide by slide, state by state, it calculates how Donald Trump could be denied the presidential nomination.

Marco Rubio wins Florida. John Kasich wins Ohio. Ted Cruz notches victories in the Midwest and Mountain West. And the results in California and other states are jumbled enough to leave Trump three dozen delegates short of the 1,237 required — forcing a contested convention in Cleveland in July.

The slide show, shared with The Washington Post by two operatives advising one of a handful of anti-Trump super PACs, encapsulates the newly emboldened view of many GOP leaders and donors. They see a clearer path to stopping Trump since his two losses and two narrower-than-expected wins in Saturday’s contests.

Check www.theconservativetreehouse to see what is going on. There is possible evidence of voting machine tampering in some of the states that Cruz and Rubio are winning. Look up Mercer Cruz’ funder. He is a big computer programmer who knows how to fiddle with voting machines.

Up until now they have been saying where will the voters go? They just may have outsmarted themselves by showing their arrogance.

Where will the voters go? They will go away. It will be a replay of 2012, but worse.

So when they install Romney as the nominee and he loses again what will they do, apologize?

They DON'T CARE if we lose. They are fine with Hillary as president, so long as they keep their Congressional committee chairmanships, and access to the $22 trillion pot of gold + Federal Reserve.

If GOPe force to side with Cruz and spoil the well, Cruz needs to renounce immediately.

Trump/Cruz need to team up and knock off the name calling, Clinton is going to be tough.

Good chemistry

“...their positions at the trough are safe...”

And that my FRiend is the bottom line.

Well said.

Go Trump. Get on board or get off the tracks, because this train is rolling full steam ahead and isn’t stopping for Shiite.

Keep in mind that the GOP really believes along with the Democrats that we can move millions of people from peasant cultures—Mexico where the age of consent is 12 and the middle east, 7 (?)—into *our neighborhoods* and we will change them, that they will not change our culture.
Rubio was on board with Schumer in this lunatic belief, but now someone’s got to take his place since he has only been able to convince the Minnesotans and Puerto Ricans that cultural suicide is the way to go.
Anyway, Democrats get their votes, the US Chamber of Commerce and its state and municipal members replenish their cheap labor.
What do we get? More rapists. But they are hard workers ... when they aren’t driving drunk or raping children. The GOP establisment has joined with the Democrats in (what Lou Dobbs called) “war on the American middle class”. They know if Trump wins, they lose. So it isn’t at all surprising that they would cheat, now and later, if necessary.

Trump hasn't done well in the caucus. This is because he lacks a ground game. Cruz is much more organized, which is why he has won them.

If Trump does get the nomination, he will need to set up a ground game. I don't believe he has time to do that. This is why I would like to see a Trump/Cruz ticket. Take advantage of what Cruz has organized

Many here have criticized Trump for not spending money during the primaries. In retrospect, it may have been a bad decision, but it is one he will have to rectify moving forward. Maybe he has decided to save his powder for the general.

If Trump makes it to the general, I would like to see the airwaves saturated with commercials, asking "Why isn't Hillary in jail?"

As an aside - all my friends/family on Facebook who are Liberals are supporting Sanders and bashing Trump. I've seen no support for Hillary (one "establishment" Republican friend is supporting Kasich).

Two “ operatives” advising a handful,of anti Trump PAcS sold this to the Washington Post

Why? Because the readership,of the Washington post can somehow find this information useful?

What terrific slimy patriots are these “ operatives” who slither in the weeds if campaign advising and consulting. Come out and show your faces Karl Rove and others

Despicable

If Cruz doesn’t set this up soon, then he is one of them or an insufferable egoist who thinks he can win a national election when he can’t even count his senate supporters on one hand

Some of us may re register as democrats just to deny the party its membership

Then drop, out of voting and take care of home and family as best as possible in a crumbling nation

Romney/Ryan... bank on it. Would be nice if Trump/Cruz cut a deal to align against GOPe; together they can’t be beaten.

No, but the "Cruz or Lose" folks will say they did the right thing by stopping Trump from winning it all....then bitch about the interference that just happened to accomplish what they have been striving for.
