I can't understand how people don't get this. Presidential politics is a glorified popularity contest, and the only hope for Republicans is to put up somebody "cooler" than the little media bitches that will constantly snipe at him.
Trump may not be the "perfect Conservative" that a lot of folks naively pine for, but he's a helluva lot better than the clowns we've had for 25 years.
A lot of people are waiting for the reincarnation of George Washington and won't accept anything less.
It's not going to happen. This is 2016.
A "perfect Conservative" that meets all the criteria on the Conservative "checklist" is not electable at the national level. Only in a very few districts would a person like this win an election at this time in America.
Maybe in a few decades, IF, our side can reverse the course of American politics and policy can a person like this win nationally.
Now is not the time to throw a Ted Cruz character on the national stage.
I've seen Ted Cruz speak. He comes across as a creepy Bible thumper. It's the image that he actually WANTS! but......
Most people in this country see that and are creeped out and want nothing to do with it.
