Harmless? Marijuana-induced psychosis on the upswing
KIRO Radio ^ | 2/26/2016 | Josh Kerns

"Duane Stone is a veteran Seattle mental health specialist. He's seeing a surprising increase in patients experiencing psychotic episodes as well. Many have never had any mental health problems before.

"I get lots of first break kind where this person doesn't have an experience with mental illness, they don't have a diagnosis, they're 30 or 40-years-old. And the only thing they've been doing has been smoking marijuana for the last year or two," Stone said.

It's not just your stereotypical stoner. They're family people working at places such as Microsoft and Amazon."

Stop scratching your heads why so many kids seem so bat crazy. From the deranged and paranoid snowflakes on campus to the delusional mass shooters, the problem might be the onset of new strains of marijuana.

“the problem might be the onset of new strains of marijuana.”

Bingo! Todays stoners aren’t smoking the ditch weed of the 60’s.

Read the article (informative) then read the comments (stoners vs. alkies).

What is a snowflake?
And I suppose it could be pot, it also could be a lot of things.

No one should be getting high every day. That use is a chronic habit. Sure as hell shouldn’t be getting drunk every day, pot is no different on that aspect.

...working at places such as Microsoft...

Now the increase of unnecessary bloatware with security vulnerabilities starts to make sense.

There's a significant percentage of people that cannot tolerate mind-altering substances.

Typically, they don't know who they are before something happens.

They should not drink either. They are the one's who go crazy on Whiskey, when a few beers don't seem to have much effect.

You are correct, the "New Dope" is nothing like what was available to most folks in the 70's. Or 90's.

But strong weed has been in circulation for thousands of years. And all the new strains originate from the Thai, Afghani and Central American landrace's.

At least 1/2 the people in the tech business smoke pot...at least occasionally. Many chronically.

Always have.

Tech companies don't even test for it anymore in pre employment screening.

To paraphrase Milton Friedman, you can’t have open use of drugs and the welfare state at the same time.

If people want to use drugs, let them live 100% with the consequences. Drug use will drop quickly enough when that happens.

(Is pot getting more potent?)

Watch the short video. Smoking Tobacco is considered suicide - is smoking marijuana any less dangerous...it is smoking you know.

Some companies do indeed test for drugs. I'm a techie. I don't use.

Look at the stoners you went to high school with to see the cause and effect. And that pot wasn’t nearly as strong as the past 10 years pot strains.
