Former Democratic California Rep. Joe Baca is running for a seat in the House, this time as a Republican.
Baca previously served in Congress as a Democrat from 1999 to 2013, before losing to fellow Democrat Gloria Negrete McLeod. In 2014, Baca ran for a seat in Californias 31st district but failed to make it out of the primary. California has a top-two primary system, where voters can choose any of the candidates in any party and then the top two candidates square off in the general election.
Baca will be facing the eventual winner of the 2014 race, Rep. Pete Aguilar, D-Calif., and will be one of three other Republicans running for the seat, along with Aguilar, another Democrat and another candidate whose party was not specified.

Another Bloomberg.
Odd that he'd switch parties in solidly RAT controlled California. Did his district get chopped up and his hometown end up in a safe GOP district or something? He's no Elbert Guillory, that's for sure.
Per Wikipedia, his wife Barbara and son Joe Baca Jr. are also active in RAT party politics. Joe Jr. is currently a RAT member of the California State Assembly (62nd district). Must be awkward for Joe Jr.
I'm guessing Sr. has most likely "evolved" all his positions overnight and is now claiming to be pro-life, pro-gun, pro-traditional marriage, anti-Obamacare, etc., etc.
If he wants to blast his former party, more the power to 'em, but I wouldn't vote for this guy in the primary.
Interesting.
Mad TV music video parodies were brilliant.
These morons can’t find anything else to do.
“Serving the public” isn’t suppose to be a career.
Not quite as bad as Bloomberg. I worked in Baca’s district for many years. Met him on a couple of occasions. He has always has been a big 2nd Amendment rights advocate. Big supporter of law enforcement. Other issues not so good. He was pretty much ousted from office due partly to his gun rights positions and has been a Dem pariah since.
It only turns left.
And in my opinion this is the bottom line! Thanks Billy for this analysis.
Hei a non supporter of immigration enforcement. Ordinarily that would end any support for him fromme. But on the other hand it is a Mexican district that is +5 “rats. So if he could win it and hold it for a couple of terms it would be all for the better. A normal person is not likely to win here.
NRA ‘A’-rated as a California Democrat.
A-OK in my book.
Welcome to the GOP Workin’Joe.
Isn’t ‘baca’ Japanese for ‘idiot’?
