Report: 46,000 Pa. Democrats Become Republicans Due To Trump
CBS Pittsburgh ^ | 3/10/16

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Nearly 46,000 Pennsylvania Democrats have switched to Republicans since the beginning of the year.

According to Penn Live, some experts attribute the mass exodus to Donald Trump.

There’s even a title for the movement. It’s called “Ditch and Switch” and calls for lifelong Democrats to abandon the party, register Republican, and help ensure Trump’s place in the general election.

Professor of Public Affairs at Franklin and Marshall College, Dr. G. Terry Madonna, tells the paper he has a theory behind the switch.

“With the increase in support in exit polls for Trump among working class, blue-collar Democrats, it is my belief that these are people who fall into that genre,” said Madonna.

The numbers are similar in other states as well.

There’s was a time when FR used to shame liberals like Drumpf and his supporters.

It’s actually 54%, but it might as well be the moon. Drumpf will probably not be the nominee and he certainly will not be president.

Anecdotally, it appears that the extra 100,000 or so Republican voters in the MA primary were divided between Kasich and Trump.

Your anecdotal musings do not match with the numbers. Kaisch received less than 114K votes in the entire state of Massachusetts. It defies logic that 50K of those were from cross-overs.

under our new voting laws here in Cook County, the dead can only vote ONCE (per precinct). We seem to have the fraud under much greater control this year.

Also, since cigarettes are bad, this year team Hillary! will instead be giving away joints to the hobos to get on the vote-bus. Who says they aren’t the party of caring? (This will also confuse many of the Bernie voters who will unwittingly get on the wrong bus and go down and vote for her shrillness)

I hope you’re right, but, I quit hoping against hope for PA going GOP in the Prez Election. It went for Gore, Kerry and Obama two times.

...but Trump cant win in November. /s

Trump has not even started in on dems yet. They will get the treatment he has given his Republican opponents, for the first time dems will get the treatment they give republicans. It will be a landslide. No I do not support Trump I think he is a liberal playing a game but I do recognize what his mouth is worth this election.

Look at who "our" candidates were. Bush, McCain, and Romney are the very essence of what Reagan Democrats and Reagan Independents despise about the Republican party.

In one day, the Cruzbots accused me of being

A John Bircher

anti-Semite

Socialist

At least the three major food groups were properly represented : )

The intersection of those is definitely a null set. ;-)

Let's Hope Donald will not Change his mind, once he is the nominee. If he does, we face voting for two bad choices. I'll vote for him if he's the nominee, but boy do I Hope, and boy do I fear he will Change and morph into another version of Obama.

Talisker taught me a new word today that applies across the board to the snide supporters of Cruz(I am not including those who support him and still show others respect. The word is “agitprop”.

Interesting how Reagan is lauded for bringing about the ‘Reagan Democrats’ but Trump is mocked for bringing about ‘Trump Democrats’

The hypocrisy is astounding.

Hillary won’t be in the race in November. She lost the FBI primary.

I pray you are right. Dear Lord, how I pray you are right. If Obama and Lynch refuse to indict after the FBI recommends indictment, there needs to be a nation-wide revolt. March in the streets.

Yep to “These voters may be left of center but don’t want to be in a party that only gives them a socialist and a criminal.”

The power of the Vag may not be super influential on the average Dem. And frankly - Bernie? I don’t think either of these people inspire broad enthusiasm. People want opportunities and they feel pretty ripped off after obama. Everyone KNOWS that Trump understands business from the ground up, that he is hands on. That will appeal to many whom are enrolled in a party simply because it is generally in line with their ideologies. They aren’t hard core, they do want competence - and I don’t believe they are feeling that with The Vag or Bernie.

I think you have it right.

Anecdotally, I don’t know if it will happen or not, but I have heard many people who usually vote democrat (union blue collar types) indicate support for Trump. There is no doubt in my mind that Trump will capture a sizable number of blue collar democrats, but many folks claim they don’t see it.

On top of this, I don’t think many people like Hillary. Conventional wisdom and the talking heads (along with many of us) have been wrong about Trump since this race started.

If Trump wins big (and he could) I am still not sure many of us are getting what we think we are, but as my tagline says - ABH.
