GOP mulls unity ticket: ‘This makes sense’
MSNBC ^ | 3/10 | Jane Timm

Conservatives seeking to derail Donald Trump are wondering: What if the contest weren’t one-on-one — what if it became two-on-one? In other words, what if rivals Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio teamed up and took on Trump together?

Enter the unity ticket: Rubio drops out of the race, and Cruz promises to make Rubio his running mate if Cruz becomes the GOP nominee. The pair then takes on Trump together, pooling supporters, donors, activists, and organizations.

It’s an out-there idea in an out-there, unpredictable election that proponents say would offer the establishment GOP a team to rally behind and give Trump a run for his money. Cruz, the argument goes, has earned the favor of the far-right conservative movement, while Rubio has the optimism, energy, and crossover appeal the GOP knows it needs to win a general election.

Is the establishment retarded?

Rhetorical question.

Why would you put two amnesty pimps on the same ticket?

I will never vote for Ted Cruz. If he is the nominee I am staying home.

Trump. And if he takes that and Ohio then its case closed.

What a success story GOPe is: they desperately need a firewall; against their own vote leading candidate. They actually play for the other team.

It might work in the primary, but Cruz/Rubio will lose to Hillary.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the whole point of the primary process is to nominate someone who actually has a chance of WINNING!

Losing to Hillary would be the strategy looking like they were trying to win; much like McCain LOOKED like he wanted to win, but didn’t...same with Dole...tools, plants, whatever you want to call them. Anything to stop busting up the cartel...

Anything but Trump.

It is why I am voting for TRUMP.

Too much hanky panky involved. You know they are looking for a GOP looser. They have a problem with the Trumpsters, who seem to be a collection of disgruntled voters of both parties, who are disgusted with having establishment chosen politicians, jammed down their throats. MSNBC would love nothing more than a Cruz/Rubio ticket. Why are the Democrats and the GOPe so afraid of Trump? I think of him as Jesus entering the temple with the money changers. Lets face it, if there ever was an organization in need of a good enema, its the 537 group of DC.

They actually play for the other team.

So they are politically gay.

Think if you’re the Democrats’ legal harassment team and how you would spin this to a friendly judge in Cook County, IL:

“Your Honor, the Republicans are trying to foist a heinous, treasonous fraud against the Constitution, our Republic, the rule of law and all we hold dear.

The Republican Presidential nominee is a Canadian citizen with a Canadian birth certificate. The Republican Vice Presidential nominee is an anchor baby, born to - at the time - two Cuban citizens.

Your Honor, the future of America is at stake. Your Honor, there are approximately 195,000 heroes buried in America’s military cemeteries around the world. Please honor their blood sacrifice by standing with them and doing what they no longer can. Remove the Canadian Ted Cruz and the Cuban Marco Rubio from the November ballot.”

Now I am not making any assertion as to eligibility. My preference (stated before) is that I would really like the natural born question definitively addressed by a court where both sides make argument and it could be settled.

But don’t think the Democrats wouldn’t use every trick in the book to elect Hillary. Putting Cruz and Rubio on the same ticket seems to me a very rich target for legal shenanigans.

...but Cruz/Rubio will lose to Hillary.

If it came down to Trump v. Hillary, then the only thing Hillary would have to do is continually air Trump's own soundbites and she would win in a landslide.

No! Rubio will throw it to Trump.

Amnesty Rubio as VP ABSOLUTELY gaurantees a Trump win.

Rubio and Kasich need to GET OUT NOW to even give Cruz a long-shot chance at winning.

This is the ONLY WAY.

Marco and Ted? GOPe would put Marco on top. Ted would be as good as dead in the VP house.

I don’t trust either Trump or Cruz on immigration.

But they are the best two that we have at this point.
