Does anyone remember the polls right before the Reagan/Carter election that showed Carter winning by 5 to 11 points?

The Reagan-Carter comparisons are ridiculous because 1980 USA no longer exists. The country was far, far whiter then, and since whites are the only real swing voters, the GOP could actually compete ten in places like CA, NY and IL. Now the GOP, including with Trump as the nominee, isn't going to spend a dime or an hour in those states. The electoral college today is very nearly a lock for the Dems.
