Cruz said the protesters were responsible for their actions.
The rest was simple enough. When the rhetoric is violent, violence will rear its head. So tone down the rhetoric. It is sad that people are falling for distorted half-quote headlines and he said/she said nonsense.
It was the Communists and Racists who caused the problem, but more effort has been devoted to distorting Cruz's comments than attacking the Communists.

The trumpers here have not given a second’s thought as to why the protest happened.
They leaped on Ted Cruz’s perfectly logical comments as though they were hundred dollar bills lying in the street.
They used the whole protest to trash Cruz.
Before Cruz said one word, they were blaming him.
They are almost mindless in their devotion to Trump.
It sad that they think Trump loves them or loves the country.
Trump would toss them out of their houses toot suite if he wanted the property.
Trump is for Trump. The rest of the country sees it.
He cannot be elected.
Not in a million years ... but he won’t have that long.
Trump’s ego will take a blow but he’ll be perfectly happy ... he can look for another fine piece of a** as he so sweetly put it. He can build another casino to grift people out of money or start another university.
