The Left doesn't believe in the abstract concept of free speech (which they consider a "bourgeois right"). To them, the only purpose of "free speech" is to enable them (the forces of historical progress) to perform their "historic mission." So naturally they have the "right of free speech" but their opponents don't.

Their "inconsistency" on this isn't really inconsistency at all when you look at it this way, though a surprising number of people don't seem to get it.
