the intent of the epa was to mine gold for private pocket lining

It seems that government always does the opposite of what it says it will do. The anti-poverty programs have institutionalized generational poverty. The Affordable Care act made medical care unaffordable. The cash for clunkers scam was supposed to improve the environment, but studies said the new cars where bigger and more powerful and less friendly to the environment. The same with electric cars. When you include the whole-lifetime model from mining to use to disposal, battery powered cars are substantially worse for the environment than gas cars. Now we have the EPA, which, with extreme regulations, has driven American companies to places with no environmental regulations. We’ve made moderate polluters into mega-poluters.
The term “incident” is the industry jargon for a loss event. Making a big deal over incident v.s. accident is either uninformed or sensationalism.
The EPA did make a huge mess, but trying to attack based on ignorance or semantics is taking focus off the real issue... the EPA made a huge mess.
They knew about the potential for a blowout, but still screwed around with the plug. Common sense would have been to bring in drilling equipment and go up slope and drill down into the shaft and then pump water up out of the mine.
Works for me!
“They did it so it would be deemed a Super Fund site by obbama and they could get hands on a billion dollar slush fund.”
Bingo!
And this spring, that stuff will reach Lake Mead. Guess who draws water from Lake Mead.
If it hasnt already.
Lets see. Our gubermint has contaminated the ground through its nuke testing at the NV Test range-see Downwinders. Then, they release hundreds of thousand of tons of toxic waste into the water system for millions of Americans.
Great job dontcha think?
No Congressional oversight. That’s for sure.
The EPA had at least three of these - so called - accidents / spills in Colorado in one year.
My experience with feds is that their hiring guidelines (EEO, racial quotas, etc) result in a large percentage of incompetent employees. Sometimes is difficult to separate the incompetence from the evil intent.
The EPA was warned publically -a letter to the local newspaper by an experienced scientist - to not do what they desired. The EPA wanted a big spill in order to gain more money and power.
Like an arsonists carries matches and gas cans for a reason. Not an accident. imho.
The water and sediment are not going to reach Lake Mead. The water will be diluted in Lake Powell and the sediment will be deposited and buried at the entrance to Lake Powell, never to be seen again until Ed Abbey's Monkey Wrench Gang blows the dam.
Trump did state he would fire the people responsible for that mine disaster
Also Trump said he would get rid of most of the EPA and let the states handle it
No Man’s Land Agenda 21 at work.
Great point(s).
You should expand that to a whole article.
No love for the EPA, but why wouldn’t the owner of the mine ultimately be responsible?
