DO:
Here is the operative part of Rule 40:
“(b) Each candidate for nomination for President of the United States and Vice President of the United States shall demonstrate the support of a
majority of the delegates from each of eight (8) or more states, severally, prior to the presentation of the name of that candidate for nomination.”
So the candidate has to have a MAJORITY OF THE DELEGATES OF EIGHT OR MORE STATES! So the open question would be if you win 8 states would you, necessarily also have the majority of the delegates? With so many candidates, winning a state might not give the winner a majority of the delegates.
**** ‘Em.
I’m sick of the hypocrisy in the GOP. We were shamed and sworn to voting for men we hated the last two elections, because were were told it was our duty even if we hated the nominee, and now that they can’t control who wins, they welsh and talk about third party. Rules and loyalty are for the little people.
GOP Delenda Est.
I thought they all pledged to support the nominee.
You remind me of people who play the lottery and think they understand statistics.
If it's Trump versus Hillary, not voting for Trump IS voting for Hillary. Staying at home in your safe space with a tissue doesn't change that, no matter how many theories you come up with. If Trump isn't conservative enough for you, then electing him brings us closer to the day when a more conservative president can be elected. Electing Hillary guarantees such a day will never come.
That makes sense to me also.
None the less, I did read somewhere this morning that Trump met his eight state limit with the Marianas.
I would have thought he earned it weeks ago.
Perhaps he did. Perhaps Cruz IS very close.
Aw horseshit.
Exit polling also said that Cruz would win one on one with The Donald!!!
i wonder how many blue collar democRats would vote for Trump in Trump vs Hillary...
Yes they will or we wouldn’t have Obama.
better yet- or the number of blue collar democrats who would vote for Trump over hillary...
I call truth. Trump is just not everyones cup of tea.
Any poll which asks voters if they would mull can be safely dismissed...
Why do you think that? Trump says he can bring in lots of Trump-Democrats, as he has in the primaries, and if that's true you guys probably don't need us. You couldn't ask for better, more odious, more irritating, more legally imperiled opposition than Hillary.
Your only downside are all the people the Democrats have bought with cradle to grave government life support. Four years ago Romney said it was 47% What is it today and how many of them vote anyway?
He cannot. Romney’s own rules prevent him, or anyone else, who does not win 8 majorities in the primaries from having their votes count on any ballot at the convention.
What’s the difference? We have an election between two New York leftists. I choose neither.
But he only won a majority of the delegates in TX, ME, KS, and ID.
Hope you're correct.
Romney and gang have already spoken about making changes to the rules prior to convention.
So in other words, you are essentially casting your vote for Hillary Clinton. Sheesh.

I won’t vote for either liberal NY’er.
I stopped holding my nose a few years ago. Gary Johnson or the Constitutional party candidate.
Even further, no one who has not won those 8 states can have a vote counted for them in any round of voting. So, Romney pretty well assured that only Trump can win with his rule changes four years ago. If (when) Trump hits 1237, he has final say on any new rules. The choices are down to Trump and Cruz, assuming Cruz can pull out four more wins.
If Trump gets 1237, he has veto power on the rules, or gets to make the rules. That’s how we got these rules four years ago, so that Romney’s ego could be assuaged.
