Someone shooting a bird at a crowd is not a defense for battery by an individual against that person. Not sure where you got that piece of wisdom.

Your not dealing with a 20 something person who grew up with flipping each other off, they have been desensitized. Your dealing with a man who went thru war, is most likely a vet, and does not put up with that sh!t. Nor should he or anyone else have to. He reacted, probably like he would react to anyone else. Notice that he slid his fist, and hit him with an elbow. That’s experience, and why I think he is ex military. I am sure many of you have a grandparent that would do the same thing.

Exactly.
And once the deputies started “escorting” him out, he was under their custody and the PROTECTION that comes with it.
