There is no Constitutionally-recognized activity called "running for President", anybody can do it.

Actually, thinking ahead, I think it’s a serious point.

In the current year (or in the future), I’m not sure I can imagine an ineligible person who has won a popular vote landslide and submitted >270 electoral votes being denied - not by the Supreme Court, and not by Congress.

It’s a defect brought about by the victory of democracy over our republic.
