BREAKING: Mitt Romney endorses Ted Cruz for President in all remaining primaries
Facebook ^

Posted on 03/18/2016 12:48:55 PM PDT by springwater13

This week, in the Utah nominating caucus, I will vote for Senator Ted Cruz.

Today, there is a contest between Trumpism and Republicanism. Through the calculated statements of its leader, Trumpism has become associated with racism, misogyny, bigotry, xenophobia, vulgarity and, most recently, threats and violence. I am repulsed by each and every one of these.

The only path that remains to nominate a Republican rather than Mr. Trump is to have an open convention. At this stage, the only way we can reach an open convention is for Senator Cruz to be successful in as many of the remaining nominating elections as possible.

I like Governor John Kasich. I have campaigned with him. He has a solid record as governor. I would have voted for him in Ohio. But a vote for Governor Kasich in future contests makes it extremely likely that Trumpism would prevail.

I will vote for Senator Cruz and I encourage others to do so as well, so that we can have an open convention and nominate a Republican.

[Is this a ploy to cause a brokered convention and elect a dark horse (eg Ryan)?]

That’s exactly the ploy. Mitt’s own words...
Notice he doesn’t say WHO the Republican is to nominate!

Oh, man. First Linda and now Mitt. All he needs now is McQueeg to complete the trifecta. Bad couple of days for Cruz.

I note Romney didn’t promise to support Cruz at the convention. Typical. An alignment of convenience for Romney.

I know I am an increasingly lone voice here on FR, but I don’t support Trump.

He’s not remotely conservative and, I believe (like Romney), his various recently espoused conservatish positions are of convenience (as were Romney’s).

He speaks in glittering generalities that sound great but mean nothing.

He appears to have very thin skin and is absurdly inconsistent from statement to statement.

Cruz is preachy and annoying, but he is smart and a truly, dyed-in-the-wool conservative.

Cruz could undo the damage that Obozo and years of the uniparty have inflicted on the USA. (A party in which I squarely place Trump, albeit on the graftor side of the table instead of the graftee.)

Attack me as you will.

The GOPe’s are using Cruz to get to a brokered convention.

Then they will drop him like a rock.

Cruz is either too blind to see it or to power hungry to care.

It’s pathetic to see these scared GOPe pukes joining the Cruz campaign now — when it’s almost over.

Spit.

Mitt is a complete and total POS. Openly calls for an open convention and accuses Trump of misogyny, bigotry, racism, threats and violence. What a vile and disgusting human being he is.

“Is this a ploy to cause a brokered convention and elect a dark horse (eg Ryan)?”

Unless they change the rules (which they might), only Cruz and Trump are eligible.

“He’s using Cruz and if Cruz doesn’t know he’s being taken to the cleaners, he doesn’t deserve to be President.”

So what does he do? Denounce the endorsements? Then everyone claims he can’t get along with anyone and make deals like Trump? Or does he not denounce the endorsements and everyone claim he’s really an establishment guy?

"National Guard Lt. Anthony Circosta poses in his backyard in Agawam, Mass., on June 9, 2007.
At left, his wife Danielle and daughter Kylie, 2, talk near the swing set. Circosta,
a decorated Iraq War veteran, seemed like an ideal candidate for a pardon from
then-Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for the 29-year-old's boyhood conviction
for a BB gun shooting. Romney denied the pardon,
twice, despite the recommendation of the Governor's Council.
