Trump endorsed and supported Romney in 2012. Easily verifiable fact.
Trump has talked about how frustrating it was to see Romney basically disappear the last month or so of the campaign. I remember that. Obama was everywhere talking - Romney silent. Trump called the Romney campaign asking what’s going on, where is Mitt??
You need to be in the game to know what inning it is. Trump has said many, many times that he supported Romney in 2012 and even donated heavily to him. As we all know who were in the game then, Romney choked big time near the end of the first debate when he realized that Obama was on the ropes. One more jab was all that was needed. The “Choke” of all chokes came in the second debate when he could not articulate a simple fact about Benghazi when Guernsey Crowley lied and took sides. Romney had no grasp of the facts and the campaign was over.
That in itself is one of the stated reasons Trump gave for deciding to run because he could not count on anyone in the GOP to get done what he was supporting them to do.
