If Trump gets 78 delegates he’ll be 78 delegates closer to the nomination, not 58, regardless of how many Cruz gets. The objective is to get to 1237 delegates.
I stand corrected. Trump gets 78 delegates on Tuesday, he is 78 delegates closer to the nomination, even if Cruz picks up 20 in Utah.
good point ... I understand Trump and Cruz split even the Alaska delegates that Rubio had. Alaska rules state Rubio would have had to stay in the race through April. I heard the number was 14, I assume that meant 7 each. Still 7 closer to the magic number for Trump.
