Donald Trump Says Ivanka and Melania 'Begged' Him to Act More Presidential–But He Doesn't Want To
People Magazine ^ | 03/19/2016 AT 07:25 PM EDT | BY CHARLOTTE TRIGGS AND MARIA MERCEDES LARA

Donald Trump may be running for president, but that doesn't mean he's suddenly going to start being politically correct.

Speaking to a large crowd of supporters during a rally in Tuscon, Arizona, on Saturday, Trump said that both his wife Melania Trump and his eldest daughter Ivanka Trump "begged" him to start acting more presidential – but he "doesn't want to be."

Despite the large turnout for his Tuscon event, the rally was met with disruptions from protesters. The new wave of anti-Trump protesters has increased over the past few weeks, culminating in the former reality star canceling a rally in Chicago, citing safety issues. In fact, earlier in the day, at a rally near Phoenix, protesters briefly shut down a road to the event, reportedly stopping traffic for an hour.

Meanwhile, Trump likely has other things on his mind. The current GOP front-runner is eyeing two big primary contests on Tuesday – Arizona, which has 85 delegates, and Utah, which has 37. Trump currently leads the pack of nominees with a total of 678 delegates (he needs 1,237 to secure the nomination) with Sen. Ted Cruz in second place with 423 delegates. On the personal side, Ivanka is currently expecting her third child any day now.

You can’t act presidential. You either are or you aren’t. Trump clearly is not.

I hope that People Magazine improves the quality of their journalism soon.

Please note that there is a difference between peaceful protesters and paid disrupters. Of course they have a few genuine protesters (also known as useful idiots).

The new wave of anti-Trump violent communist disrupters has increased over the past few week.

Do the people of People Magazine know the difference between mob rule as espoused by leftists, and democracy?

DT does a lot of comedy in each rally, and the EneMedia takes those
comedic bits out of context as if they were serious statements.

(AP)Recently, Steve Martin encouraged a throng of 10,000 people at the Los Angeles
Palladium to get small. This writer questions the moral license Martin is taking in
cajoling the crowd to be something less than they are. Is such an incitement in the
best interests of our country?

If the nomination is stolen from Trump, any Republican who endorsed someone besides Trump will have a real hard time getting re-elected. An example....Rob Portman's Senate career is probably over. It was a close call to begin with.

There's no point in having a Republican Party when the elite refuse to acknowledge the will of their voting fodder.

The chart should say Percentage that voted for someone other than Ted Cruz. There were multiple candidates on the ballot.

Currently, RCP average shows that only 35.7% of likely Republican voters support Trump. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/president/us/2016_republican_presidential_nomination-3823.html

If 64.3% of Republican voters don’t support Trump we have a big problem if we really want to defeat Hillary.

Reagan was a statesman, not an entertainer

Reagan not an entertainer ?...I think Reagan himself would dispute that... that’s what he did for a living for the majority of his life until he got into politics

True, but I was referring to his years as a politician, which you know, but it's OK...

And you know Reagan use his skill-set developed as an Entertainer to great effect... that’s why he was known as the great communicator

and his opponents dismissed him as a lightweight dunce Loose Cannon, “Cowboy”....

( remember the joke at a time?.... what’s flat black and glows in the dark?.....Iran, 5 minutes after Ronald Reagan takes office)

This was the Reagan that was caught on an open microphone saying that he “sign legislation today that banned Russia forever, the bombing begins 5 minutes”... it’s Reagan that called the Soviet Union out finally and call them what they were “the evil empire”

I love him for it but all the the Talking Heads went ballistic about how un statesman-like Reagan was... to hear them talk ...Reagan was just some crazy warmonger cowboy actor that was going to piss off everybody and send the world back into the Dark Ages

I don’t know what the solution might be. Trump is being advised by two people who really love him and support him to stop this behavior. His answer? He doesn’t WANT to. Just that scenario itself is telling. But it’s a real problem. For while he has countless and loyal supporters, he also has the rest of us. He has disgusted and alienated a lot of people whose vote he’s going to be needing in November if he’s going to win. For us, it’s not about his policies, it’s about him. I’m not certain he’s grasping that, and what it means.

The RCP average hardly has any recent polls included. The HuffPost Pollster average, which includes far more polls, has Trump currently at 43.6% nationally.

Rubio is still listed there & he’s out of it. Are Rubio supporters going to switch to Trump? Not likely.

I’m tired of people who “act Presidential” but are really snakes in suits. Give me a real man any day.

Reagan was wonderfully charming. I think we can all agree on that.

Trump is not.

We don’t have to speculate:

Rasmussen National Poll (3/16-3/17 — after Rubio dropped out)

Trump - 43%
Cruz - 28%
Kasich - 21%

Obviously, there are still some undecided, but not enough to allow Cruz to catch up with Trump, even in the unlikely event that he gets all of them.

So he’s not henpecked. He makes up his own mind. It doesn’t mean that he didn’t listen to them and consider what they said but he made up his own mind. I know to many men who are led around by their womenfolk. It’s refreshing that he has a mind of his own and does what he thinks best. Also he doesn’t want to be a phony. That’s refreshing too.
