Well, pretty close except for a different reason than the joke implies. When the woman doesn’t listen to the manor usurps him, as in the modern-day Women’s Movement, she’s a sitting duck for the Devil.
This is true, but Adam didn’t tell her not to talk to the Devil, or else that would be there in the story.
The story holds together, but not the analogy to today. Nothing in the story describes a woman not obeying her husband.
