I’m personally very facile with our language, but fellow Freepers have helped me with simple corrections many times. On those occasions, my only reply to them has been, “thank you.”

Well, I would prefer not to vote for a man who fears speaking the truth because it might make him look bad.

I noticed that too. Obama does it at the end of his sentences, but Ted does it in the middle. They both seem to be waiting for applause. Neither have a natural cadence to their speech.
Its a debate thing. It gives the judges time to write their critiques and grade the debate performance. That’s my guess at least on the Cruz side. It is also a technique used to keep you from using the dreaded ah, um, er, uh filler words. Pause instead of saying them and then speak once your thought is formed in your head.
