I changed the title for obvious reasons. For search purposes, you might want to change it to the original...but I thought I should leave that to you.

A senior U.S. intelligence officer likened the Belgian security forces to “children.”

Right. Because our own Security Intelligence successfully stopped 9/11 from happening.

Methinks these senior intelligence officers may be eating their own words soon ... (I of course hope that's not true, but with the increased frequency of terrorist attacks in Europe it's only a matter of time now ..)

I heard yesterday that Belgium had actually cut the budget for their anti-terrorism forces.

The Brussels bombings occurred when the city was on high alert...and they still couldn't stop them.

And don't forget, in Belgium the police cannot conduct raids between 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM.

It just shows how Islamophobic those Security forces are since they allowed the Radical Islamists to blow themselves up.

I have no doubt it will. Time for me to get ready to leave for work. I have the joy this morning of commuting into Chicago via mass transit this morning. It's all over the media here that Ohare airport, Midway airport and the commuter train stations in Chicago are all on high alert with increased police and DHS presence today even though there's "no credible threat."

Yeah, can't wait for DHS dogs to sniff me up and down as I go through Union Station today. (/sarcasm)

I agree. This is a time to show solidarity with Belgium, not make these types of comments. The US is vulnerable enough that our security forces could look similarly foolish in the near future.

Touche. Like the incident where the CEO of a company was shot to death in the same building I work in, one floor beneath me about a year ago now?

Or the San Bernadino terrorist attack?

Fort Hood?

Others? Nope, absolutely nothing! (/sarcasm)

Trump mentioned Brussels shortly ahead of the attack so I’m guessing rather than leaving him looking in any way prescient the media are going into a “the stones in the street were worried about Brussels” mode.

“A senior U.S. intelligence officer likened the Belgian security forces to “children.””

It’s attitudes like this that will be one of the enablers of the next catastrophic terrorist attack on US soil.

Any statement that does not highlight how little we know and how little control we have when we allow importation on a mass scale of actual terrorists and those ripe for terrorist recruiting is childish arrogance.

When our entire intelligence apparatus, our federal, state and local law enforcement fails to protect us the next time, will this guy volunteer to accept his part of the blame? I don’t think so.

Let Belgians deal with their multiple inter-related failures of government without some arrogant idiot on our side pretending he is any better.

The US counter-intel complex will fail us just like the Belgian counter-intel complex failed them.

It’s the only thing we know about the next terror attack on US soil - we can’t stop it and won’t even try to do the most basic protection measures.

We hire @ssholes like this guy who in reality has no idea how he will be outsmarted and how many Americans must die because he thinks he is on top of his game and can point fingers at other countries.

‘Resigned frustration’?! That’s some smug attitude from the USA. With vastly more resources and manpower than Belgium...

9/11: 19 terrorists living here illegally and on no-fly lists, registered at colleges they never attended. All we had to do was enforce our own deportation laws, and if not those, several others that would have enabled other federal agencies to deport.

And this was the 2nd attack on WTC, with the organizer identified and tried in US courts! So there really is no excuse for lack of intelligence. Bush created Homeland Security as some miracle fix for this “lack of information sharing” and only a few years later that very same bureaucracy has blood on their hands:

Warnings on the Boston Marathon brothers had been sent to both the CIA and Homeland Security by TWO foreign governments (independently) identifying them as dangerous terrorist suspects, by name.

US “experts” with their arrogant superiority did not stop Boston or several other attacks, or for all we know, the next terror attack.

I find it hard to believe that regime officials not wishing U.S. forces are like European.

At the same time, it ostracized its burgeoning minority communities . . .

Really? How can that be?

We have been told how inclusive, tolerant and forward thinking Brussel weenies were. They tell the rest of the world how to think and behave in their policy papers, but in truth they are nothing more than limp linguine.
