Cruz Accused of Stealing Line from ‘The American President’ While Defending Wife from Trump Tweet
Breitbart ^ | 3/23/2016 | KIPP JONES

Posted on 03/23/2016 7:39:19 PM PDT by BlackFemaleArmyColonel

Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)is being accused of lifting a line from 1995’s The American President while defending his wife Heidi following a Twitter bout with frontrunner Donald Trump.

Responding to Trump’s warning to Cruz to “be careful” after an anti-Trump super PAC used a photo of Trump’s wife Malania posing nude for GQ in 2000 in an ad in Utah, the Texas Senator initially responded by calling Trump a “coward.”

Trump wrote on Twitter on Tuesday: “Lyin’ Ted Cruz just used a picture of Melania from a G.Q. shoot in his ad. Be careful, Lyin’ Ted, or I will spill the beans on your wife!”

Cruz later responded: “Pic of your wife not from us. Donald, if you try to attack Heidi, you’re more of a coward than I thought. #classless.”

Cruz then told CNN Wednesday morning, “If Donald wants to get into a character fight, he’s better off sticking with me, because Heidi is way out of his league.”

The New York Daily News is accusing Cruz of borrowing the line from the Michael Douglas film The American President without giving it attribution.

In the film, Douglas, who plays American President Andrew Shepherd, warns Sen. Bob Rumson (Richard Dreyfuss) to leave Annette Bening’s character, Sydney Ellen Wade, out of a political dispute.

“You want a character debate, Bob? You better stick with me, ’cause Sydney Ellen Wade is way out of your league,” Douglas says in the film.

Some folks find that hard to believe, but you and I are on the same page with that.

Yeah - I can say without any ounce of doubt that Cruz's IQ is not 150.

I doubt it's 135 even ... I'd give him 127. There is no creativity. It's not about the number of facts or memory. If he does have an audiographic memoyy (that is an adjective - not a fixed things where you remember everything) that's NOT a good thing, because it means he's faking intelligence - substituting memorization for actual thinking. above 115 it's how you can manipulate symbols in your head ... that's how you create things.

Cruz has no quick wit, at last none that I've seen. If it were a strength of his, we'd have seen it, they would have showcased it.

The thing is, I hate to say it, Rubio was actually showing a little intelligence battling Trump ... but there you have the problem that without strong character, intelligence is either wasted or used for negativity.

I'm content to be relatively dumb and ineffective :-) If everyone were dumb and ineffective, the world would have few problems.

So Donny Boy’s third wife (second affair) took her clothes off for money. Once upon a time that behavior would have been treated with a serious of derogatory four letter words from Freepers. (Think Megan Kelly, whose pictures were much less provocative than these).

Did Donny Boy think these pictures were going to stay hidden???

Bull Stuff!

Ted can stop that stuff any time he wants.

You don’t remember Ted’s own lecture to Trump from a little over a week ago, where he said the leader of the campaign sets the tone?

Peddle that stuff to someone without a memory, and common sense.

No hate. Just truth. Donny Boy has the morals of a alley cat. Maybe that is why he and Bubba Clinton were such good buds. They could talk about their conquests.

The media demanded Trump the disavow the KKK (he must have done it 180 times but the media never seemed to catch it).

Why is Cruz not expected to disavow a pro-Cruz PAC attack on Trump’s wife?

The media, liberals, and GOPe seem to have a different standard for Trump.

Yep. Not only that but the MSM now gives Cruz the floor to dump his slime buckets on Trump without any journalistic follow up. Contrast that to Trump and the endless gotcha questions he gets.

He thinks he is so smart. Well he got caught this time. I bet if his words were studied one will find many instances of copied lines.

That is ridiculous. Wouldn’t even be pegged as plagiarism. It is simply a well-known and often used expression.

You people are really reaching to make that accusation.

And, by the way, Heidi is way out of Trump’s league.

Stop the presses!

Now this IS breaking news.....

Didnt Sen. Cruz also once utter those more famous words, "Play it again Sam?"

Call in the GMen, private citizen partially quotes line from movie, must surely have broken some kind of Federal Law.

If not, let Obama issue an Executive Order to that effect. This kind of despicable behavior cannot go unpunished - at least according to the Trumpets.

Turns out it was not actually a CRUZ PAC attack.

It was reported on another thread to be instead by the @Never TRUMP crowd.

Still, All candidates should disavow any entity from using wives and family members of other candidates.

Cruz couldn’t bring himself to do that for Melania TRUMP, thus the Donald issued a warning about spilling Heidi’s beans.

From Breitbart

Quote:

Last August, Glenn Beck attacked Melania Trump, the wife of GOP frontrunner Donald Trump, by accusing the former fashion model of “posing nude in lesbian porno shots.”

The accusation came as part of a lengthy Facebook post Beck wrote last summer criticizing the Trump candidacy. The talk radio host prefaced his comments by stating, “This is not an attack, this is an honest question.”

He then proceeded to list his issues with the New York billionaire, which included a swipe at the candidate’s wife. Beck claimed that in a Trump presidency “the First Lady would be the first to have posed nude in lesbian porno shots.”

There is nothing I detest more than a self-righteous, sanctimonious prude. Glenn Beck has a filthy mind to go with his vile mouth and I look forward to the day someone knocks his teeth down his throat.
