They may not, though. Everyone who contemplates a suit for slander or libel must know that in order to win the suit, you must bring even more public exposure incident to the suit. They are done on a public stage.
Most people do not bring libel suits for that reason.
The Gawker verdict by Hulk Hogan was an exception, but it would have been very hard for him to testify about that case.
