You are correct. Children are too young to make those kind of choices about their gender. Shame on the parents who push it.
It is child abuse, the very propose of parenting is to protect children from themselves and the world until such time that they are old and informed enough of that world and themselves to be able to protect themselves.
Surgery and drugs are extremely dangerous, if they don’t kill you they can and in this case will mane you for life.
In this respect letting a child make such a choice is no different than letting your child go play in the free way.
Children can’t understand how dangerous and consequential such choices are. Parents that allow children to make such choices are abusing them.
