‘Fair Trade’: Ted Cruz Rejects GOP Orthodoxy, Joins Jeff Sessions Populist Revolt
Breitbart ^ | 3/31/2016 | Michelle Moons

Posted on 03/31/2016 5:11:07 PM PDT by lodi90

Presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz pledges to “stand up for fair trade” in a new state-wide Wisconsin ad hitting on international trade deals, a signature issue of frontrunner Donald Trump’s campaign.

“Free trade” is generally seen as a globalist policy in which restrictions on imports and exports are kept to an absolute minimum. “Fair traders,” on the other hand, argue that purely free trade can have negative consequences for the citizens of a particular country, especially when it comes to wages and employment opportunities for the lower and middle classes. They recommend that sovereign nations negotiate and implement trade deals that prioritize their own people first. This debate has been a centerpiece of the 2016 primary season as both political parties have seen populist factions revolt against their respective establishments over what they view as unfair free trade deals.

Cruz, speaking directly to the camera, says:

Wisconsin is a beautiful place where the people place solutions over slogans.

Our campaign is for the working moms, the truck drivers, the mechanics, and the machinists with calluses on their hands. It’s for the farmers and factory workers and the families who worry about prices going up while paychecks stay flat. It’s for the young people coming out of school unable to find a job.

I’m going to stand up for fair trade, and bring our jobs back from China.

We will see wages going up. We’ll see opportunity again.

We’ll see a President who will stand with the people of Wisconsin, and Americans everywhere.

This is a significant change in policy and rhetoric for Cruz away from Republican party’s limitless trade orthodoxy.

OK. That’s wonderful, hope you feel better and I’m happy for your that you are proud to be a Texan. But Cruz is still a liar, cheat and fraud, just bigger and better because that’s how everything is in Texas. And by the way, since you like to disparage NY and NJ and all the other liberal places in the NE (speaking of talking points, you sound like Ted there), remember that Ted is going to lose all of NJ’s delegates as well as most if not all of NY’s. So I’m glad you like Ted as your senator because he’s still going to be your senator because he’s not going to be President.

Keep sliming Cruz so all will know who to “thank” for getting Hillary elected.

You Cruz supporters are delusional. He’s not going to get the nomination. And if he did he’s not going to win. He’s unlikeable and unelectable. You people are very hard headed but persistent. It’s just not happening for you this year or any year.

Cruz has no shame and no principles. Did he not recently write an op-ed with Paul Ryan singing the praises of Trans Pacific Partnership trade deal? I have never seen such a shameless lying politician and I lived thru LBJ and Nixon. How anyone can support with guy is beyond me.

Lying Ted lying again.

Senator Ted Cruz’s statement that he “always opposed TPP” is incorrect. He and Representative Paul Ryan co-authored an April 21, 2015 op-ed in the Wall Street Journal (Putting Congress in Charge on Trade) in which they both supported fast-tracking TPP (the Trans Pacific Partnership). Cruz was also incorrect when he implied that TPA is separate from TPP. TPA (Trade Promotion Authority) was the “fast-track” bill that gave up Congress’s right to amend or filibuster TPP and which reduced the number of votes required to pass TPP from two thirds of the Senate to a simple majority in each chamber.

I was fooled by Cruz until his limp-wristed condemnation of the fascists in Chicago and my jaw hit the floor.

Don't feel bad, he fooled a lot of us (including me) here in Texas too.

Give up!

Trump is a light weight on all issues. He is strictly a Mammon man, and worships his wealth and nothing else.

Well, then I guess you were born to deceive.

Not so... I have read what the deception is from the Good Book... wolves in sheep's clothing claiming they come in the face of Jesus. I have done my homework to escape that tribulation.
