Based on your logic, no candidate should ever drop out of the race, since they may be able to get to the convention and win it there.

Like Reagan though he could do in 1976? Or, Goldwater in 1964?

Many candidates have dropped out. Others stay in if they think they can win or if they feels strongly that their message will impact even if they don't win.

Do you think Trump will win? It's far from certain.

Goldwater won the primaries, he didn't win it at the convention.

Reagan dropped out when he saw he couldn't win the nomination.

According to your logic, no candidate should ever drop out since it might divide the vote enough to keep the front runner from getting the required number.

The issue is why is Kasich still in when he can't win?

And if Cruz hits the point where he can't win either, will drop out.

Trump has the overwhelming majority of votes among the individual candidates!

The fact that there were numerous candidates that are splitting the vote doesn't change that fact.

Reagan dropped out when he saw he couldn't win the nomination.

Neither Ford nor Reagan had the delegates to win the nomination heading into the convention. Sound familiar?

Reagan went to the convention without enough delegate votes and actively challenged Ford. Reagan even tried to change the nominating rules at the convention. He did not drop out! Reagan lost the delegate vote and then conceded.

So, why did you bring up Goldwater?

And the convention fight likely cost Ford the election.

I went and checked the history.

Both Ford and Reagan had almost the same delegate count and carried almost the same amount of States.

That is what the convention rules were made to resolve, two candidates who were neck and neck.

Cruz is nowhere near Trump and by next week will be unable to win outright the nomination with enough delegates.

Thanks for the history, and ignoring the context of what actually happened.

Scientists have also found that precious little snowflakes think they need ‘safe space’ to protect themselves from perceived criticisms.
