Note the section that discusses the difference between the “majority” and merely a “plurality”.

Irish Brigade (and others) should note that I erred when describing a “plurality” as 50%+1. That is a majority. I apologize for that error.

Again, see the Wiki article it’s pretty straightforward and not really controversial (at least as far as the mathematics goes) so most likely reliable.

One will note from the table of total delegates that the total number thereof is 2,472. Thus, 1237/2472=0.5000 or 50%.

(Actually, technically speaking I would say one could argue one would need 1238 delegates (50%+1), but that may be quibbling there. It’s unlikely anyone will get exactly 1237 anyway).
