At any rate, I think he has pretty much said what he needs to say, and that is nothing is off the table as far as he is concerned. You neither want to telegraph to the enemy exactly what you would or wouldn't do, but instead make them wonder what it is you would do.
I also think that saying he would use nuclear weapons might create a bigger problem. They may react with a first strike attack fearing they will definitely be attacked, so they have nothing to lose.
I guess I prefer the approach of letting others do the talking, but to a different audience, of what a madman Trump is, rather than Trump saying it himself. Let them guess as to what Trump might do. Then when action is necessary make it swift and brutal. Then they will be less inclined to stir up that hornets nest again. Talk can easily be dismissed, action not as much. Does that make sense?
Then again, perhaps your plan is the perfect plan. Submit it to Trump. You don't need my blessing for sure.
