Beautiful state, horrible political climate.

Especially if you have to work for a living.

I took my wife there for a week's vacation once. Really enjoyed it, but quickly learned that if we were going to buy much more than an ice cream sundae or pay admission for an attraction, it was worth our while to make the short drive over to New Hampshire.

Did you go to Burlington? The last time I was there it reminded me of East Berlin. Lots of bums on the streets, lots of closed up commercial buildings. Just a dour place.

VT is very rural. I’ve hiked & biked most of the whole state. You can go forever & see nothing but woods, especially in the Northeast Kingdom.
