Not quite. The electoral college is fairly straightforward and is still won by collecting actual votes from people who stand in line to vote. It simply forces candidates to get broad geographic appeal. The rules for the Republican presidential primary vary from state to state, someone who wins the actual vote count in one state can apparently lose the delegate battle.
It really appears as though the delegate battle is won by playing games of shadow politics.
I suppose we will be stuck with the delegate count as it is for this election. Going forward, the rules need to be changed.

As long as vestiges of state sovereignty remain, this is how it is going to be.
I’ll be interested to see the Constitutional amendment proposed.
