Businessmen often set goals high. In my own management career, I've learned to set the bar high. So if I want my department to attain say a 30 per cent gross margin, I will set the goal at 40 or 45 percent.

It's like a baseball player who wants to hit 60 home runs in a year. He may then set a goal to hit 100 home runs because that will drive his actual performance higher and will be less likely to "rest on his laurels" and take it down a notch as he approaches the 60.

If we cut our national debt only 50% during eight years of Trump, I'll be happy.

I don’t have a problem thinking big but making the process look easy because Trump can do it as boss of his own company benefits no one. If losing helps him take another tactic that might be all for the best right now.

Trump said that everyone close to him — family, friends, Republican leaders — has been urging him to tone down his attacks and reach out to former rivals, both to reassure wary voters and to begin the difficult process of unifying a party in which many have sworn to never back him. Trump does not intend to take the advice. He said such overtures are “overrated.”

“I think the first thing I have to do is win,” he said. “Winning solves a lot of problems. And I have two people left”: his two remaining Republican rivals, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

I'd be happy if we can cut it 10%.

i.e. lie to them for their own good. I really hate that kind of nonsense.

I just posted almost the same thing. You and I could walk into any government office and find 30% without breaking a sweat.

The problem is the middle management in any agency. They will try to sink you at every opportunity. Combined with the unions, and the media...it’s going to be tough.
