Good grief see a Doctor and get off those drugs.

Actually, more Republicans have voted against Ted Cruz than voted against Donald Trump. In Wisconsin, alone, some 8543 more people voted against Cruz than voted for him.

Trump gave cruz money to so I guess by your logic cruz is corrupt.

There are plenty of people who voted for Cruz, but who are good with Trump as a candidate, The implied idea here seems to be that if you can’t get a majority in what started out as a what? a 15 man race?, then you aren’t a fit candidate.

This of course is pure bunk, and I really hate to be saying that about a Sowell column.

It is also worth noting that the current Republican Party nomination rules include Rule 40, which was put in place to eliminate Ron Paul in 2012.
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2016/04/rule_40_says_a_majority_of_delegates.html
Rule 40 says that to be eligible as a candidate in a brokered convention, a nominee must have won a majority in 8 states. There are only two candidates thus, Trump and Cruz.

Clearly the Republican Party would have to brazenly remove this rule to elbow Trump and Cruz aside and put in a Kasich or a Ryan as the candidate. And the whole idea makes a mockery of Sowell’s “logic” here, as such a candidate clearly would have failed to have obtained even a small percentage of the primary votes.

Sowell has let his dislike of Trump overcome his normally impeccable logic.

and your solution to that is to run the guy who lost to the guy who can’t win...ok...

Noooooooooo, not at all. But it's also not sending some loud mouth NY yankee shyster to DC to screw it up even worse.

"A win by plurality is as much of a win as a win by a majority."

I don't think that's always the case. Many localities, states and countries have a run-off election when there is no majority winner. The two highest winning candidates then have another election to see who can gain the majority when no one else is running. Often, in these cases, the plurality winner is not the majority winner. The RNC selection process is much the same way, requiring a majority vote to select the candidate.

Trump gave far more to the GOP than to the Democrats.

So much for that old saw.

What do I care if the Clintons went to Trump’s wedding ten years ago when she was a Senator and Bill was being rehabilitated by George Bush the elder and George Bush the younger after the tsunami?

The same Bush establishment crowd is now using Cruz as their surrogate in order to have a contested convention, and Cruz is willingly going along with it.

Cruz thinks he is going to outsmart the establishment at the convention.

As Trump would say, “not going to happen”.

Cruz has been revealed as the insider he always has been.

He duped the conservatives pretty well.

Now he is allied with the same Bush people whose head cheese, Jeb, said, “I don’t need conservatives to win”.

I thought Cruz and his supporters were smarter than that.

You're so right.

Let's send another lawyer/politican/establishment hack so we can maintain the status quo that is working so well for us. /s

You said more succinctly what I just said. See just above.

I find it disconcerting so many here are latching on to this “logic.”

Duh - with up to 17 candidates, no one candidate is going to get a majority

“Most Republicans Have Voted Against Trump”

Sowell, bless his heart, suffers from the same delusion of tyrants “you’re either for me or you’re against me” that may work in North Korea, but few other places.

Trump is not the only candidate in the room. It’s quite possible that Republicans voted FOR their candidate, rather than voting against Trump.

The guy is mostly ok, but in economics and in Trumpian politics he sometimes flies off in strange, undefensible directions.

This one defies logic. One can point it out honestly and be accused of all sorts of things in the present FR environment.

Nobody truly believes his argument can be generally applied, do they?

It is sad that any FReeper could hate America enough to vote for a guy who said he hates the concept of guns, supported partial birth abortion, says that Hillary would make a great President and who supports single payer government run medicine.

If you ever were a Conservative, wake up from the trance lifelong Liberal Donald Trump has you in.

Lol!

That fake cowboy bravado and windbag attitude is exactly what we expect from Cruz’s toadies these days.

Sorry, but you may not be a Republican, but you are a wholly-bought subsidiary of GOPe inc. Your job is to just sit there and act tough and rootin-tootin, and lose at the presubscribed time. So don’t let me get in the way of your day job.

Trump supporters have become unhinged.

Cruz will be mathematically eliminated in 2 weeks.

If Trump wins a majority and goes to convention with 1237 votes, I will fight for him to be our nominee. If he goes to convention with less than the majority then I will fight for the majority’s voice to be heard. It’s that simple.

“No surprise there. NY is full of liberals who will embrace one of their own,”

Just like:

South carolina
Georgia
Florida
Alabama
Mississippi
Michigan
Arizona
Kentucky
Virginia
