After round 1, MANY/MOST of the delegates become unbound. This is when “Little Marco”, “Lyin Ted” and all the other insults from trump and his “fans” will play a VERY BIG part...
And yes, there are absolutely things as burned bridges. Maybe not between candidates who are living the campaign, but delegates are heavily invested in their candidates... They WILL NOT forget...
If Trump doesn’t go to the convention with 1237, he won’t win and there won’t be ANY “stealing” involved...
Then no one will show up for the General Election. The Delegates will dance with the one who brung’em or they’ll dance alone.
Well like I have said ad nauseum Trump will be pretty close on the votes by June 7th. All he has to do is cut a deal with Kasich who if he drops out many of his delegates become unbound and he can help swing them to the Donald so he does win on the first ballot. That’s how it works. Whats Cruz going to do if he’s 350 votes short? Not much is the answer. His only option would be cut a deal with Trump or continue with the illusion that he can somehow win on the second or third ballot which will never happen.
